I jumped from 9% to now 6.7% would this count

If I am not mistaken, it’s not whether your rank is 6.7% as much as it is whether or not UT has admitted up to 75% of it’s entering freshman with Texas eligible students. So for example UT will automatically admit the top 7%, top 8% even the top 9% provided that the University has not meet it’s quota of 75%.
You may be able to appeal, however, if UT has already meet the quota, you will probably have to get back in line with everyone else.

Oh ok thank you so very much.

As @mctech said, your rank at this point, even though it’s under 7%, won’t allow you automatic admission. Unless something else significantly changed within your application, they’ll probably just leave you CAP’d. But honestly, you won’t know till you get your decision. Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst!

As for the top 7% thing… If you’re in the top 7% of your graduating class in Texas, you’re automatically admitted to the university, but not necessarily your first choice major. The reason it’s top 7% is because so many people who are automatically admitted choose to go to UT, giving them little room to admit students outside of the top 10% and out of state students. You have a better chance of getting in if you happen to be in the top 10%, but the top 8/9/10% of students are not automatically admitted. They will go through a holistic review along with everyone else.

Well that is not entirely correct, it’s not 7% that determines the cutoff, it’s actually the 75 percent rule that determines cutoff. UT wanted it to be 50%. UT is the only Texas school that has this exception, all other public schools must accept all applicants in the top 10%.

<a href=“TXEXplainer: Why Top 10 Percent Is Now Top 7 | The Alcalde”>http://alcalde.texasexes.org/2012/11/txexplainer-why-top-10-percent-is-now-top-7/

Thank you thank you thank you all for this so much. I applied for spring freshman 2015 just in case, and I know I will get accepted 100% because they are also top 7% equals auto admission and seeing as I am top 6%. But would rather start in the fall, because it makes things easier.

@UTPSY2014 The reason they lowered it to 7% is because the top 10% rule was basically making that 75% all automatic admits. UT is now at 7% so that they can keep the freshman class roughly the same size and have room to still admit students outside of that top 10%. Only the top 7% is guaranteed automatic admission, is what I’m getting at. If you’re top 8%, do you have a better chance? Absolutely. But there is no guarantee that you’re going to be automatically admitted.

@135pipe I don’t know if they will give automatic admission for spring freshman admits? It’s possible, but unless you plan on going to a CC or something along those lines, you’re letting a whole semester go to waste. If al else fails and your heart is absolutely set on UT (which seems like it is), then do CAP. There’s nothing wrong with that and you’ll be guaranteed admission.

I am going to a&m for fall semester in case appeal fails. I can’t do cap. By applying for spring they cancelled my cap program. Also I wish I don’t feel this way about ut Austin. I wish I could be like those people who gets up and doesn’t care at all, and as moved on, but I can’t I just can’t and it sucks.

Are we told why we were rejected?

Nope they never tell us. But you can ask the admissions office.

@135pip A&M is great school! Have you gone to go visit? I loved it when I visited and almost went there, but I knew my heart was at UT. It’s a beautiful campus, you might find you like it there!

I went there same position. Loved it but my heart is still beating for ut. I wish it would stop ugghhhhhhh. I just love ut s o much. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Plus my brother goes to ut. I love the campus. Austin is the bomb the skyline also woooooo.

You might like A&M! What are your other options?

A&M is a great, school, expectations about what you should understand are set high by the professors, and you can always transfer out

Texas a&m is my cheapest option, and just 5k in loans for st Edwards in Austin.

Appeal denied

@135pipe sorry to hear man, seems like you had a very legitimate case

Are all the waitlisted applicants ready to begin the mystatus process again? :-SS

It’s ok thank you @juanpisv

Anybody besides me here
