Official UVA Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

Denied. 3.3 GPA from private college (thanks to Calculus); transfer applicant for Junior year.
2030 SAT; 3.8 HS GPA weighted; sports extracurriculars and mission trips. Great recommendations;
very good essays. Letter did not offer wait list – “unable to offer you admission”. Very disappointed to say the least.

@midatlantic2012‌
Where else did you apply?

No other school - had to apply to in-state school because of family’s unemployment. Chose UVA only.

@midatlantic2012‌
Sorry to hear about that. What are you going to do now?

Waitlisted. For the reference of others,

3.4 GPA @ Northern Virginia Community College (Annandale)

3.8 high school GPA (weighted)

1 recommendation letter from physics teacher (former UVA physics grad)

I don’t consider it a loss, though - I was heavily leaning towards going to VT for their mechanical engineering program anyway, so this just made it easy. I’m just pissed that now I am REALLY behind on finding housing in Blacksburg. Uh, anyone got any tips for that? :-/

I’m in an interesting position. I was waitlisted; however I did not send in a recommendation letter with my application. I’m not taking classes currently, so do you guys think a good letter would push me over the top? Here are my stats for reference.

Accepted! &AHHHH… I usually don’t post on college confidential, but I really didn’t think I’d get in, so I’ll post for applicants in the coming years. I applied early action as a senior and got flat out rejected. Sweet redemption.
