Official UVA Transfer Thread Fall 2010

If I am not mistaken, I think that SAT scores are required for transfers…

@dterpanov: Yes, I believe SAT scores are required too unless you are international and have TOEFL or IELTS instead.

i sent mine in

Have anyone submitted midterm report, even though it is not required?

i did because i did very well this semester and thought it would be helpful for my application. i wouldnt send it if the GPA for your midterms is lower than last semesters

@uvahopeful2 Did you fax, mail, or email your midterm? I used an online fax service…so I am not 100% sure that the admission’s office have it (although I did the same with my finaid docs and it worked just fine). Did you call or email them to check whether they have it?

i mailed them the physical copy of the midterm report from the Common App. I did not call to make sure they received it because its supplemental. I sent it on March 18th though so I would assume they have it by now. Do you think I should call?

I might call in your situation because you’re not totally sure if it worked

I wouldn’t worry too much about the midterm report. I was told by an admissions rep that they really don’t put too much stock in it (if at all) for transfers. They told me finals change a lot of peoples grades…

Well, I was mostly concerned because I have three pre-requisites this semester and a midterm can be an indication of where I stand at this moment. I would just like to know whether it is in my file, when it will be reviewed. Do you think it is better to call or email?

man this sucks for me i applied for 8 schools to transfer to and most of their deadlines are on May 1st to commit. And my dream school UVA is the one that lets people know May 1st you have to be kidding me.

I’m dreading/anxious for May 1st to come.

you can put down a deposit on may 1st and not go to that school… you do know that right? you just wont get your monies back

also, some schools let you have a period where you can get a refund if you withdraw. call the school you’re going to send the deposit to, and see what their stance is on that

Hey guys I was accepted into UVa. last application period and got a tip from a friend of mine who goes there about housing… Check out websites other than UVA Housing’s (ULoop, Craigslist, HooHasIt, Facebook Marketplace) when you’re looking for housing, even if you want on-grounds or any kind of University Housing.

There are always people trying to get out of on-ground housing contracts to live with their boyfriends, etc. who can guarantee you a spot in the area you want (I got into Bice, an awesome place with nice common areas and kitchens in the apartments. And AC. And an elevator.)!!! Yay. So yeah… main deal is if you’re looking for housing look to your fellow students first and then out and around.

Best of Luck!

yay4nexytear
thank you so much!! that was incredibly helpful. i have to resist the urge to spend all my time looking for housing right now, I have to get in first hahah. But really, thanks that will help a lot
What have you thought about UVA’s transfer program? Do you think they make it easy for kids to transfer or do they sorta ignore them like a lot of schools do? Did you feel welcomed?
Thanks again :)

three more weeks…

kind of nervous…

Time flies though with all the current tests/projects/assignments we all must have…Hopefully they release decisions early.

yeah thats very true…I cant believe its April 10th already…just 2 weeks left of class!

less than 20 days… what do you guys feel?
I am sooooooooo anxious… can’t concentrate on my exams and homeworks.
