do you think they will post the decisions on April 30 since May 1 is a Saturday?

I was hoping they would release them a week early like they did for the first years (this saturday). However, I could wait a week, I have soo much work that will keep me busy until May 1.

The average transfer gpa looks to be 3.7

http://www2.nr.edu/transfer/pdf/uva_transferInfo.pdf

That doesn’t have a date on it but is probably a reasonable average.

I wish they would release them early, too - even if just by a day!

Good Luck everybody!

Oh dude, that was for VCCS people - my bad…

What is the average gpa for an admitted transfer student? 3.5

[Transfer Q&A, Transfer Students, Undergraduate Admission, U.Va.](http://www.virginia.edu/undergradadmission/TransferQA.html#GPA)

This is a very skewed number. The VCCS students tend to deflate the average GPA, when it reality it is very likely around a 3.70-3.80. I’m saying this without concrete evidence, of course, but previous threads on CC tend to hover around these numbers. Expect higher for OOS.

thanks guys!
so do they consider which school you are transferring from? I know some universities do, but not sure about UVa.

I think they consider what kind of courses you are taking in the context of what school you go to. Otherwise all OOS transfers would be from Duke or Cornell and all IS transfers would be from William and Mary or VT or something. So the type of coursework you are taking at the school matters more than the prestige or ranking of the individual school. This is just the impression I was given…that is probably why they asked for course descriptions as well.

Will the school send an email to the applicants when releasing the decisions on the website? Can we expect to receive the decisions on late April or early May?

Its May 1st. Maybe earlier.

Could you all please “chance” me?

I’ve already been accepted at UNC and Vanderbilt, however, they both have 50% admissions rates. UVa is my first choice. I’m worried about my college first sem GPA. 2nd sem should be better.

Thanks everyone!

Not that it might make any difference, but according to the UNC website, the transfer admission rate is 38 percent.

does anyone know the difference in terms of acceptance rates for sophomore and juniors? I’ve heard junior transfers have a much higher acceptance rate

actually, i talked to some admissions people in Feb. and I was asking lots of questions such as yours 09989103, and they said that actually MORE people apply for 3rd year transfer (I think partially because of the 2 year guaranteed agreement for VA community colleges), but she didn’t explicitly say it was harder or easier. Just that it might be expected to be harder since more apply 3rd year than 2nd.

I’m super nervous about the decision coming up in a few days. I don’t know what my chances are, but I’m hoping I get in! What do you think?

I’m a freshmen at UMD college park (but I’m from NOVA, so it would be instate)
I have a 3.8 GPA
In a variety of classes
Got a good recommendation from my english professor.
Involved in a bunch of extra curricular including Relay for life.
In high school I did almost full IB (just not math)
I had a 4.3 GPA
I don’t know what else they look at?

@fghtffyrdmns133: Just relax and enjoy the remaining 10 days…you know, watch some movies, go walk in the park, play ball…At this point there is no point in “chancing” and so on.

^^^Agreed, more than likely our fates are already decided. The 10 days will go by really quick…try to take your mind off of these things, at least until a day or two before decisions are released.

same anxious waiting here…

Just curious…how many of you are rising sophomores and how many are rising juniors? I’m a rising sophomore applying to CAS.

junior here.
