Totally agree, brishe! Georgetown doesn’t release decisions for transfers until June 1st - can you believe it?

Hey guys,

I found something for you Community College transfers: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/718854-official-community-college-transfer-results-2009-a.html

Some of you have probably seen this but I think this is great if you just want to compare yourself to other applicants. There was one person who was rejected from U. of R but got into UVa, but I got into U of R. so hopefully that means UVa as well…?

@Sephyre That’s really interesting to look at. It does remind me how much I hate being an OOS CC student though.

It reminds me of something my high school did. For the class above you, they provided a sheet that anonymously listed each student (IE. Student 1, Student 2, etc.) , showed his or stats (GPA, SATs, etc), and then showed all the schools they applied to and what the result was for each school. The result was you could look at example students with similar stats to yours and see how they did the previous year. It gave you a pretty good rough sketch of what your odds were.

Now I wish I had applied to some Ivys… Whatever though b/c IMO McIntire > Ivys

Both I, and Businessweek, agree that Comm school absolutely wins over Ivies. (Not that I wouldn’t kill to attend any of them)

vtechhokie, what’s wrong with tech haha? just curious about your opinion because you do go there haha

honestly for me, anywhere is better than mary washington.

I think the biggest reason I’m considering tech over UVA is that I would like to get into the media studies major but it’s like McIntire where you apply and it’s a hit or
Miss and I can’t really afford that since I’m already a rising junior. I heard the fallback major is english for people who do not get accepted (like how many people choose Econ if they’re not accepted to McIntire) but the reason why I’m leaving my current school is because I don’t want to be an English major…

I guess I should research more on this whole applying for majors thing at UVA. any insight would be great :)

@Seph

I like that thread, brings me hope that a CC can transfer to a big school.

I was rejected at UMD for not completing (will have it by the end of this semester) the coveted English 102…but accepted at a couple LAC and Northeastern, oh well.

My dream school is Georgetown but I’ve had a love affair with Virginia ever since I visited last summer. To be honest, if VA were to accept me on the 1st(crossing fingers!) I wouldn’t wait for GT and would be ECSTATIC at the prospect of being a Cavalier.

Any opinions on an early decision release tomorrow? I sure hope so :)

I keep waking myself up from dreaming that decisions are up. So sad. I really hope they go up tomorrow.

@jyeva

It’s not really that there is anything wrong with tech. in fact most people really really love tech. but as a Spanish and international studies major myself i just don’t feel very excited or challenged my program here. (obviously there are a lot of really great and challenging programs in other disciplines)

I’m also drawn to the student body that UVA attracts…students seem to be able to balance their rigorous course load and social life really well (where as it seems to me that a lot of students at tech choose one over the other) There is also so much to do in charlottesvile…Blacksburg not so much… :)

obviously everyone has to form their own opinion though, and a lot of people would disagree with mine.

Has it been established that if you have a financial to do list that it is a good thing?

Mine just showed up, so I am unsure. I know that the two offices don’t work together, but I would find it odd that the financial aid office would post a to do list for someone who was rejected…

Well, once we find out our decisions, we should add to our stats for future applicants and write whether financial aid to-dos aligned with admissions results. Also, we should confirm whether the “acc” on Firefox/Safari worked for admissions.

@TakeMeHyome Yea I applied for Fin Aid back in February…or March. But these items on the to-do list just showed up now, it might be irrelevant or a good sign. Anyone know if they plan on posting it before the May 1st? There were rumors of Friday or something? I hope so…

I still think financial aid is a good thing, partly because it showed up after my view decision arrow, partly because of the logic someone mentioned earlier–it doesn’t really make sense to post a to-do list for late May for a rejected applicant. Finally, Transfermer has posted a couple times in response to people worrying about the e-mail mix-up, but for whatever reason has not addressed financial aid. I feel like if we were all completely wrong (like with the e-mail), Transfermer would be quick to put us back on the right track.

Or maybe I just really need something to soothe my nerves.

Well… I logged into my SIS today, and found something was different. On the right side of the page, it said " program advisor-none assigned". I guess people are updating the web page ,and if I get in, they should assign me someone to help me, but now I’m rejected… gosh…

Brishe that’s exactly what I was thinking as well. In none of the post has Transfermer addressed that question, which means that he/she is probably knows what it means, but cannot address it. But who knows, maybe it’s a mix up and Transfermer doesn’t wish to say that the financial aid office is messing up? However, if that was the case Transfermer could simply state that they do all financial aid documents regardless of acceptance, however that would just be a huge waste of time.

Jennysister, I really don’t think that means anything. For the longest time mine has said “none assigned”. I don’t think they assign advisor until you have actually accepted admision

Mine says none assigned too, and it has since I got my log-in information. That shouldn’t be anything new.

Also, can everyone search classes?

Yeah. Does everyone have two financial aid rows on “View financial aid”? One for 2011 and one for 2012?
