Never soon enough. I set my phone alarm for 4:50 tomorrow (in case I’m actually out doing something) and my roommate looked at me and just said, “You’re joking right? Don’t pretend you won’t be refreshing your page every minute for an hour beforehand.” Probably true :

i got the mistake email and my last name starts with A…

I didn’t get the mistake e-mail, but my last name starts with S. Interesting theory.

FWIW my last name starts with P and I did not get the mistake email.

Good find.

Mine starts with O and I didn’t get one either.

Ha, yeah, this few people doesn’t exactly make for a good sample, but it was a “huh, thats interesting” observation.

I still don’t how the hell you would make that mistake though. The email/admissions system could be powered by gnomes for all I know, but I still can’t imagine something that would add an extra couple hundred names from a different application bucket without someone noticing.

I think that that stupid email has actually caused me more stress than anything else, if for no other reason that I can’t find any logical explanations for it.

i think those who got the mistake email are in. why would the PR department who sent the email have a mailing list of students if they were not admitted. the PR department sent the emails to admitted high school seniors who were admitted so it is clear that the PR people get a email list of admitted students. now, its possible names are added to this list as the deans go through the process so its possible your admitted but your name had not been added to the list yet. this is my theory and it could 100% incorrect. who knows?

^ That’s exactly what I think. Even though the two departments may be separate, how else would the PR department get the names of transfer students.

I didn’t receive the email and last name is W.

@jbernard703 - the email was issued on 20 April. If there were a complete list of applicants offered admission by then, they would have just released decisions early. I think it’s not worth giving much thought.

i don’t think it was a complete list. i think as students are admitted they are added to the list, so the list was incomplete at the time. the PR department tried to send the email to the high school senior admitted list but accidently sent the email to both list. so if you didn’t get the email i don’t think it means you were denied admission.

I think there is little difference between a PR department’s capacity to accidentally send a list to a particular group in error and its capacity to do the same for a random group. Particularly when the first list is pure conjecture.

I’m a GAA applicant and didn’t get it…so I don’t think it went to admitted students. And I already had “View Decision” when the e-mail went out, so I think I would have been on any list of admitted students (assuming I’ve fulfilled the requirements…still paranoid).

Any other GAA applicants get/not get the e-mail? It seems like an easy way to determine whether or not is has any significance.

Well, my last name starts with a Z and did not received the email. Interesting find, but I won’t thinmk this is how things work. It is quite probable, though, that at that time they had an incomplete list of admits since at that time I didn’t get my check mark yet(What if they read apps in alphabetical order in last initial haha)

My high school transcript wasn’t off my to-do list by 18 April. I called to confirm receipt, had it removed, and the check mark appeared about 20 minutes after. Since I doubt they immediately pulled out my application with zest to make a decision the minute I called, I’m not going to give too much credence to the check mark thing!

True, and I think Transfermer mentioned that View Decision only means your application is ready to be read, but I’d had mine for a couple weeks when the e-mail went out. Oh well. 19 hours until we know for sure :)

I’m a GAA app and I didn’t get the email in question

Sent from my HERO200 using CC App

I was pretty optimistic about the email until I saw “We sincerely apologize for the confusion surrounding the initial email” added into the blog post…that kind of language makes me think at least some of the people who received it are not being admitted.

not worth worrying about at this point though…anybody else waiting on William & Mary too?

@PenelopeOdysseus my last name starts with a H so thats near the middle. Whats also interesting from this small sample size is that more people DIDN’t get the email than those that did. All the to do list process, even mailing me a letter instead of updating my sis makes it seem as if i’m in. Maybe we are all analyzing this process like how english teachers analyze books.

I’m waiting for William and Mary as well. I think we’ll hear tomorrow from them. It makes sense being a Friday. What scares me about W&M is that they’re sending out emails, which I get sent directly to my phone, so at any moment tomorrow I’ll get that email! Ah hopefully it’s not in class!

I’m going to click open that decision tomorrow like a hungry, savage bear who hasn’t had food since mid-February. With that said, best of luck, guys! I’ll be online all day tomorrow for the daunting countdown.
