CC: 3.84 GPA (4.00 GPA in all Math)
ECs: Girl Scout Leader & Sunday School Teacher (gonna miss those kids)
Essays: Best I’ve ever written, but not sure how they actually stack up to other people
SAT/ACT: None, because I’ve been out of high school for more than 5 years

Undergraduate Major: Math

Going for Secondary Math Education with the 5 yr MAT option.

Have to wait for the letter to know if it’s just a College of Arts & Science acceptance or if I got in to Curry’s 5 yr MAT. Already accepted the offer, I’m coming either way.

I am attending all three summer sessions so I have two weeks to pack. What an exhilerating feeling!!!

I got my financial aid award today as well. Not great, but I knew it wouldn’t be, as my EFC is pretty high (though my parents aren’t actually contributing much…) I’m still attending, but will probably have to take out additional loans.

Does anyone know when the “Academic Requirements” tab will appear? Is it after our transfer credits are evaluated? I want to look around and the classes I need to take, but other than a list of PLAP/PLIR/PLCP/PLPT classes, I don’t have much to go by.

If you don’t mind me asking Brishe, what is your EFC and estimated financial aid? Mine is like 10,000 but my parents won’t contribute much, if anything so I’ll have to take out additional loans as well.

My EFC is just under 19000. I got 5500 in unsubsidized loans, so I’m only short around 5k for tuition, and I planned on continuing to work through school to pay for my own housing/books/food as I have been. I’m going to see if I can talk to someone at my bank about some low interest student loans later in the week. I have the same issue though. My parents help where they can, but despite a high EFC, they can’t contribute much. Ah well, it’s not unmanageable. I’ll still graduate with less debt than the national average ($60k, last I checked).

@hopefultransfer4: that’s awful! i’m in a similar situation (0 efc), but i havent received my aid package yet. are the loans direct loans? or are they parent plus loans? (sorry for all the questions but I’m really worried about my aid situation - any help you could offer by letting me know would be soooo much appreciated!)

None of them are parent plus loans. It covers everything, I think, but it’s still a ridiculous amount. Is it even possible to earn that much a year in work study? So much for low income people being able to attend UVA with minimal loans.

You were not found in our database. Please contact the Accommodations Office at (434)924-6873 or housing@virginia.edu if you are currently enrolled as a student.

I just activated my e-mail right now so I don’t know if I have to wait a bit. I’m about to sign up for the 3rd year summer orientation, though. We should have a CC meet up. I’m gonna need friends since I only know two people at UVa, one being my brother. Haha.

-I don’t think all financial aid packages are available yet. They started posting them Monday, but they may still be working on putting some together.

-Hereford gets a lot of transfer students, but it’s sooo far away. I’m actually signing my lease tomorrow for an apartment I found awhile back with a friend who already attends. It’s near the corner, and a 10-15 minute walk from grounds.

Hereford area is nice. My brother is currently at Gooch and he likes it. While it might be far, don’t forget there is a bus service. (: Also, a plus is that Hereford is near Runk, which is probably the best dining hall.

I’ll probably be applying for a single in Hereford and might get an apartment next year.
