Official UVA Transfer Thread Fall 2011

Basically what I wrote about and why it should be legal :)

I wrote about youth voter turnout and why more us should show up to the polls.

I wrote about my experience meeting with my state representatives on the issue of funding for higher education

@Sephyre: I’m absolutely terrified by the whole circle check disparity. Despite the comments from Admissions that it’s merely a flaw in the system, something has to change it. Mine switched to a check fairly early on, and my first thought (like someone else on this thread) was that they’d made the decision, but it just doesn’t allow you to see it yet.

Also, good to see another Mcintire applicant!

O.P.

I wrote about why Chinese mothers had the assumption that they were superior over Western Mothers

[On Chinese Mothers and American Kids - NYTimes.com](http://parenting.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/11/on-chinese-mothers-and-american-kids/)

I got the check mark. I’m freaking out!

A little more than a week left!

Actually less when you really get down to it. Weekends don’t count, Monday and Friday hardly count as well, so its more like 3 days left.

I like the way you think, CGCGCG26.

I just received the checkmark as well

hi guys… kind of late, but I was just wondering if anyone could honestly tell me what they think of my stats. I’m applying as a second year transfer. I was surprised (pleasantly) to be waitlisted at UNC-Chapel Hill, so it gives me the impression that I might be a competitive applicant at UVA, but never thought so prior to that.
Also, I’m wondering if anyone knows how competitive admission to the School of Nursing is relative to the other schools.
Thanks!

OOS Transfer
HS GPA: 3.9
SAT V: 600 M: 600 W: 750
College GPA: 3.6
lots of extracurriculars in both hs and college, two collegiate academic honor societies, national honor society, spanish honor society, community service, pretty strong essay (at least I believe so)

SierraLeone12,

I actually read that book “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother” so I think that’s a great topic to have written about!

LearyT,

I think it has to do with you being a second year transfer. UVA transfer typically tends to be a little harder than UNC-CH, because they have to fulfill the quota for instates and a lo of community college students get in (like the University of California school program).

Still don’t have the checkmark…

Yeah I was reading some previous transfer threads, and posters who had been admitted to UNC were wait listed at UVA. I have a feeling that will happen to me, but I’m not too concerned about it. Although it would be great to get into UVA :)

Just saw the latest post on the UVA transfer blog (yes, I need to find a better distraction!): [Transferring to UVA: Email coming to you](Transferring to UVA: Email coming to you)

Did anyone get the email they were talking about?

I got it. I think it was because I was accepted as a freshman last year, and they mistook me for a first year applicant? Just a thought, I doubt it means anything though.

I got the email too. Very confusing and not exactly what I needed in this last week of waiting haha. But I was actually rejected last year (when I applied in high school) so I’m not sure how I ended up on the list to receive the email.

Yeah, agreed that you couldn’t plan a worse way/time to create confusion.

I’m not reading into it tooo much, but can’t help but wonder how people from the transfer pool end up on a mailing list for accepted first year students. It would be one thing if it had been sent out to every transfer applicant, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

O.P.

rawgasm that is ballsy, but i think its fine if you use ■■■■■■■■ and “■■■■■■” in an essay as long as its in context and there not next to each other

is may 1 the deadline to make transfer deposits as well? I thought it was june 1? cus if thats the case i think you guys may have gotten in and it was a slip up on there part
