Is anyone getting really weird messages when you log onto your SIS? It says my netbadge is valid for 1 hour 0 minutes and 0 seconds? or something like that…

Okay…just kidding tried it like 5 times and now it’s back to normal. Nothing’s changed haha

I thought decisions were released last year on the 13th?

Nope–last year was April 29th. (The Friday before the 1st.) The regular admissions decisions came out almost a week early this year, though, so I’m hopeful we’ll have something by the 27th at the latest.

The josher, when you said that the RD came out almost a week early… do you know if they came out that early last year? I just wonder how much impact that has. Hopefully we will know a little earlier… The 1st seems like ions away!

I remember reading in the first year blog a few years ago that when they finish regular decisions they move on to the transfer applications so it should impact the time we have to wait for our decisions to be released unless there is an unexpected amount of applicants this year. (a lot more than usual)

Heres my wild guess(people mightve posted this before): people who got their checkmarks have their decision ready but because UVA wants to release all decision at the same time, they put off the links till all decisions are ready. This seems to be the only legit reason why some people have checks while some have green circles

Okay, literally just got the checkmark in the span of the 4 hours that I was out for dinner. Dying. Yes, it took me 4 hours to eat dinner. There was a lot of food.

Mendelismyhero, last year the RD decisions came out on the 25th, vs the 23rd this year. So… comparable.

Ihavethefaith, despite numerous messages on the transfer blog to the contrary, I’m inclined to agree. It wouldn’t make sense to store all of the decisions separately and then link them to our SIS profiles on the announcement day. Instead, it seems they’re likely to make admission decisions as they review applications and just prevent anybody from seeing the ‘View Decision’ page until they’re ready to announce everybody’s.

If that’s the case, it seems like they’ve made significant progress through the pool. Does anybody still have a green dot?

I still have a green dot. Applying to McIntire and I’m sure its going to be a close call, although evidently there were only 243 applicants this year for ~40 spots, versus the usual 300 or so.

Good luck to any McIntire applicants - I was in your shoes last year and love UVA as a third year.

I just got my green check! So according to the conspiracy theories I am on the bubble right?

@Kights09
Thanks! I’m a McIntire applicant. Will you tell us your stats please? and where you transferred from, etc.

Finally got the check Still have to wait until May 1st? :(

@Novastudent
I think you probably made it, just from your gpa and experiences, and the fact that you are from a cc. If the conspiracy holds, your check is a good sign.

WHAT IF admissions is laughing at us right now as we try to decipher the meanings of the checks and circles? what if we’re all rejected?!?

SAD and funny at the same time…

Hey guys, also a Fall 2012 application to CAS from NVCC.

Got a checkmark as well, made a post on the UVA board about it, and then stumbled upon this thread. Funny stuff.

My heart is pumping really fast from seeing that little check, though it’s killing me that I can’t see my decision. I really, really, REALLY hope that I get in - applied two other times before and didn’t get accepted.

@ag1993
Admissions are definitely laughing at us if they’re on here But it’s too much fun

@JohnnyBazooka
Thanks for the positive assessment! But I didn’t take the SAT, and don’t have an A.S. degree from vccs. They told me straight out months ago that these factors would make me less competitive.
I kinda took a risk and went for a financial internship in Zurich, therefore couldn’t finish the AS or take the SAT in time. Plus, I think my essays were WAY risky.

What are your stats? What did you do for your essays?

Haha they definitely laugh at all the applicants every year then. Maybe they’re just going over NVCC students now which is why so many of them are getting checks (?) I forget what other people’s theories were but the only thing I thought was that the earlier you get it, the more sure they are of your decision so the only thing that can really be concluded from that is that the earlier you get the check mark the less chance you have of getting wait listed haha. ALSO, I emailed an admissions person about a late teacher rec and asked whether it would be included in my application when they evaluate it and she said that they would put it in my file but it might not reach my application before its “final review” so maybe the check mark just means your application is in its final review! … which would also back up the fact that the earlier you get it, the more definite they are about your decision…

My status is still a green circle. what does it mean???

^ according to uva it means nothing. some people have speculated that if you receive your check mark late then you are on the bubble.

what are your stats?
