@seta0000~
I’m itching with anticipation about this decision. I seriously think about it every single day, even though I know it’s a stretch for me. You sound like a far more competitive applicant than I am, which worries me about the rest of the applicants, too! I dunno, I highly doubt that I’ll get in, but I can’t help think ‘what if,’ you know? I’m dying to go to this school. :/

GAH! RIght?! I’ve sent in apps in highschool and I got into okay schools… but I wasn’t crazy about them and I didn’t flinch when I read the acceptance letters. …but the magic of UVA… There was that moment on the steps of the Rotunda overlooking the lawn and seeing the very buildings of Thomas Jefferson himself and I could feel every shiver crawl across my skin like when I finish a really good book and I knew based on all the community, intelligence, and excellence I saw that this was the school for me. Now fast forward several months and it’s been five weeks since I found out I was short one class for Guaranteed Admissions, fast forward four weeks since I sent the application and for three weeks now I am consistently comparing myself to every other person and let me tell you it is intimidating how powerful some people are. In what they have done, in what they know, in who they are… and these same people are applying to my school? I believe those people deserve it but that saddens me because I am unsure if I am among them you know?

TL;DR I know UVA is my dream school. There are so many great applicants how can I tell if I am among them.

estara: They guarantee that they will come out no later than May 1st. Commonly though, results are posted via SIS a week earlier than that, and a letter soon follows the SIS announcement. I am not going to miss the opportunity for an email to show up today that says “oh hey! If you run and buy us coffee we’ll let you in!” Kidding of course but if they need more documentation or offer me scholarship information or have a question about my application I will be ready to respond and part of it too is just being so excited to know if I am in or not.

seta00000000000000: just be confident that you did your best with your application. That in and of itself should comfort you greatly.

*Does UVA require mid year reports?

Good luck everyone

Isemann13–no, UVA does not require mid-year reports, though they are recommended.

hey guys, could someone chance me please!
I’m applying as a rising sophomore. My first semester grades have me worried (C, C+, B-, B, B, B+). i hope they consider that i took a difficult course load, and Wake Forest is pretty bad with grade deflation. my college EC’s include working 8+ hours a week, volunteering 20 hours over Christmas break, intramural soccer, and RUF.
My HS GPA weighted was like 3.9, but on virginia’s grading scale it would have been over a 4. HS EC’s include state champion with varsity soccer, state runners up with club soccer, national honor society, french national honor society, and doing research in a lab at a hospital the summer before senior year. My SAT was a 1340/2040, and i’m also an URM (both parents from Africa) if that makes a difference. and i sent them an email and they said they dont need midterm grades so im sort of confused now.

so we have to fill out both the css profile and fafsa correct?

@estara, Yes, that is correct. However, the deadline for institutional aid has passed, so at this point, just fill out the FAFSA, because the CSS Profile won’t do you any good.

I just found out my status has changed from green circle to green check. Did your’s change as well? I hate how I have to wait till the end of the month when I have mine decided already.

I know dude this is so cruel. I saw that I could press the button to see my admissions decision, then I got got myself all mentally prepared to check, and when I finally did it said to come back May 1. My guess is that we’ll be able to see it earlier than that.

Yes, green check…

wow lucky you

green check here as well. anyone have information from last years transfers what this means?

i just called them, its just how the system works. it doesnt mean anything unfortunately.

Mine is still a green circle
For you guys who are having a green check, when did you complete your application?(I mean sent all required materials)

I am guessing green check means that they have reviewed your application and have made a decision, but haven’t released it.

i sent in my application beginning of february and they had gotten all my materials by the middle of the month

Green Check here too-- unsure of whether this is good or bad. Have any of you looked into potential housing, if you are admitted? If so, will you most likely be dorming or renting off campus?

ana, when did you apply? im wondering if the green checks are for people who just applied earlier or whose decision has been made. And im gonna wait for my deciision before i think about that stuff haha
