Anyone else yet to have gotten a decision “check” instead of a circle. That’s pretty much a no yeah? I read everywhere that it makes no difference when it changes but I feel like why would they take forever to read through my application and transcripts?

Anyone have anything other than the just be patient shtick.

@ ilovekoreanfood i am in state, so i am not applying for financial aid. @ronhaldino i am at villanova university and made the dean’s list, so im applying to uva with over a 3.5 GPA. i also am in a sorority, various clubs, and intramural sports team. i had a 2100 on the SAT and a 1350 with just math and verbal. Good recommendations from high school, but my high school GPA was lower.

what does it mean if you have a green circle or green check? is there a difference? i think uva is the only school that uses this method for admissions

@estara89. this is copied from UVA’s transfer blog:

Oh, the green circles mean that your application is complete and has been prepared for review, be it weeks ago, or just this week.
April 21, 2011 at 5:31 PM”

When the decision will come out this year? I guess it can be 26th since it always be the last Friday before May 1st. And anybody got the offer from any other school?

I hope it’s not I work on Fridays. at 5pm.

I was added two new “to-do’s” for financial aid that are not due till June 1st and my decision made check is available so I’m a lot more confident now. Anyone else get new to-do’s or have some info if that is a tell for acceptance?

I have 3 items left on the TO-Do list and the status says initiated for all 3. Does that mean those forms have to be done or that they received them?

@Kane402: Would you mind saying what the to-do items were? Were they asking for things such as tax documents? I’m trying to figure out why I have no to-do’s. I assume it’s because my application (including financial aid) was not missing anything, but I’m wondering if the to-do’s are items that are in addition to what was requested in the application.

@seta when did you apply and send in all the supporting materials? I submitted my application on March 1st, so I am not expecting a green check until just a week or so before decisions are released.

I still have a green circle, albeit I submitted my application to Mcintire a day before the deadline. Not sure if that’s a good thing or bad thing.

@SolarPowered: I’m from a Virginia Community College too! Northern Virginia Community College to be specific. @11112013UVA: I’ve gotten into George Mason, AmericanU, and DrexelU. None are really on par with UVA, but whatever.

I also have a check, but no to-do’s… I did submit my financial aid somewhat late (March 29th), so maybe they haven’t evaluated my financial aid yet, so for now they don’t need to ask me for anymore information. To those of you who have items on your to-do lists, when did you submit your financial aid?

Thanks for everybody’s reply. I got into VT as well. Just waiting for the UVa and W&M’s result. (Actually, people I know who applied for VT all got accepted)
My circle turned to be a check this Monday, and there is one financial aid documents called “parent tax return transcript” added to my to-do list at the same time. ( I submitted W2, 1040, and the signature form earlier). @seta00000, I guess everyone who apply for financial aid should have that list after getting a check, whether being rejected or accepted.;but I am not sure though. @ana2903, I submitted my FAFSA and CSS Profile around late Feb; I sent the additional documents such as W2 during mid-march.

Thanks for the feedback on the to-do items.

Did all those you know who applied to VT get into their College of Engineering, or to a different program at VT? I’m just asking because I asked the initial question to get a gauge of my chances to get into UVA’s engineering school, and comparing VT’s acceptance rate to UVA’s is not the same as comparing VT’s College of Engineering acceptance rate to that of UVA.

@ana2903 and anyone else who is concerned about to-do’s:

why would any of us have any to-do’s if our applications and financial aid info is not missing anything?

For example, 11112013UVA’s to-do was to send in a tax document that was required from the get-go. So it’s starting to seem to me that you would only have a to-do if your application/financial aid documents weren’t 100% complete when you initially submitted. Does anyone have any information that is contrary to my estimate?

On the other hand, apparently seta00000 received financial aid to-do’s that aren’t due until June 1st, so maybe it does mean something.

hey guys
first congritulation on your acceptance to unc! i got wait-listed as i said on that forum…
anyway i just moved here and gonna check SIS and this forum everyday just as i did for unc lol
anyway
did you guys send in mid-term report? although it’s not required, it’s still recommended according to the transfer blog. And i “guess” the reason i got wait-listed from unc is that they didn’t see the grades of the very importanct classes which im currently taking. so i just got mid-term report from some of my professors
Do you guys think i should send it in, or just wait for another month from now?

As you can see, only the FAFSA, CSS Profile, SIGNED copy of the parent federal tax return, parents W2, SIGNED copy of the student federal tax return, and the parent and student signature page are required. If you skip down to near the bottom of the page, they say: “In some cases, you may be required to submit an IRS tax return transcript and/or IRS tax account transcript. If you receive such a request from our office, there are three ways you can request this document.” Hence, the “parent tax return transcript” is not an officially required document.

It’s important to make the distinction between a tax return transcript and a SIGNED copy of the federal tax return. A regular tax return is the original document (1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, etc.) and any schedules and additional supporting forms you or your tax preparer file with the IRS. A tax transcript is a summary of this information and is retrieved from the IRS database once your tax return has been processed in their system. They are not one and the same and most schools only ask for the tax return and NOT the transcript.

Thus, I would take it as a good sign if they’re asking you for additional financial aid information - whether tax related or other. If they have already made a decision on your file (signified by the check) and you were already outright rejected, there would be no point for them to further pursue more aid related information since you wouldn’t be getting aid anyway. It’s almost counter-intuitive to think they would ask a rejected student for additional information at this stage with a looming deadline and thousands of applications to sort through when time is really of the essence.

@ilovekoreanfood: I didn’t realize the parent tax return transcript was not part of the original requirements. I agree that it’s a good sign if they’re asking for that or any other information that was not part of the initial application/financial aid requirements.

By the way, last night I had some awesome spicy pork bulgogi.
