So if you are admitted do you get an email at all? or only a letter via mail and possibly a portal change?
@samhall It seems like admitted students get a portal change (but are not notified via email that it changed) and an envelope in the mail. No email, from what I’ve read.
That makes so much more sense. Thanks @whenyoubelieve and @sid99sid . I knew I was off somewhere.
Does anyone know when people started to get letters last year?
@scubadiverman I checked last year’s thread, a lot of people received their admission decision on the portal on the night of 15th and 16th, while the letters come later (if you got accepted), usually after your decision is updated on the portal.
I have a question. do denies get the email all together on the 15th, or would it also be by waves like the admittance letters? hoping I won’t get any emails from UW for the next 15 days.
I’m an international student but I go to a high school in Seattle, so really hoping that I’d get my decisions as fast as in-state applicants would.
@imsodesperate From what I saw, rejections were also released in the waves like the admittance letters.
You could also get an email from UW if you got a direct admit to a major, though! Some people on the thread got listed as “pre-CS” or “pre-business” on their portal, but got an email from the department at UW saying that the department decided that the applicant got accepted as a direct admit to that major. (Though, I think those were later than the rejection emails?)
^ That’s what I’ve heard too. I looked at last year’s admissions thread, and in-staters usually got the email during the evening of the 15th, and OOS students the 16th and after that.
Anyone from California here?
I am going through last years and it seems most OOS where not notified on the portal until the 19th. It looks like the portal is updated once they have mailed the letter.
@scubadiverman I thought they were notified on the 16th.
@scubadiverman California here! Bay area
@scubadiverman I’m from the LA area!
@whenyoubelieve do you think international students in Seattle high schools will get their portal updated as fast as in-staters or oos? 'cause I’m in international student, but I have a Seattle address in my application.
@scubadiverman from California as well! Bay area. I’m a mom anxiously awaiting the rest of the UCs and U-Dub!
@imsodesperate I think I saw international acceptances relatively early (I remember seeing one on 3/17/16), so I think they should be out relatively “fast,” compared to other colleges’ turn-around times for international students.
Can someone give me their opinion? I have been enrolled in running start for the past 2 years full time, and my high school gpa wasn’t too bad. My college grades have brought my gpa down to a 3.3. I have gotten a lot of A- and a few B’s and when you only have 3 classes, it brings down my grade a lot. Despite the low gpa, are B’s in college bad? I really don’t know what to think because I think I do pretty decent overall but compared to everyone elses stats, i feel like I have no chance.
@cher8495 @castlehes I’m from the Bay Area as well! Good luck to you guys!
yeah you are right. My bad. @Jhippitty
And I am from bay area too. waiting on UC’s. Santa Cruz comes out tmrw
