***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

Does anyone have any information on when the next wave of unofficial transcripts will be released?

@uwfromCA, that’s why I offered up a correction and let people know it was old, haven’t looked at UW since then so getting reacquainted. Those older stats are a big reason many didn’t attend - obviously they saw it as a problem that needed fixing. Thanks for the updated information, sounds like it has gotten better. According to the site they accept about 150 DA to CSE:

About 80% of CSE majors join the department through CSE Regular Admission and about 20% of our students come through Direct Admission.

What I don’t know has changed is the typical college gpa of those getting into the major as a soph or junior. Two years ago we were told a 3.8 college gpa was the average of people getting in. Can that be right? That’s a med school type gpa and tough to get!

The website is excellent source for info for all the students asking questions about being a pre-admit to anything.

I got my acceptance letter in the mail today (I’m in state) but there was no information in it about financial aid/scholarships

@owash21 I myself applied for biology too and have received nothing so far. I know a few other people on here have applied for biology and haven’t been able to see their transcript yet.

@UWfromCA , the “let it go” verbiage is unnecessary. @CADREAMIN has a currently accepted applicant also, so is not just hanging around this thread airing some grievance from two years ago. You can see for yourself how many applicants on this board are completely unaware of the competition for resources they may face at the UW. It’s important to talk about. If things are getting better, then by all means provide that information - much appreciated!

I went to an HCDE info session with my D in January, though, and the departmental admit stats there were alarming. Further, they have a track within the HCDE major that requires Informatics courses, but they warn that enrollment in the major/track does not confer any priority to get into the required Informatics courses, and thus they make no guarantee of one’s ability to actually complete the requirements of the major/track. Perhaps the growth you mention will help. I would like to feel some confidence about that before plunking down considerable OOS tuition.

The crowding and competition issues are real, and people should know what they’re getting into. I’m not sure why you seem to take it as a personal attack when these downsides of an otherwise fantastic university are discussed.

Got accepted today, 4.0 gpa 1980 SAT. Not sure about Foster Direct or financial aid as of yet.

i am sooo worried about getting in bc two of my friends have already but nothing for me :frowning: i have an unweighted gap of 3.8 and ACT 29. OOS majoring in Environmental Studies

I want to major in CS and did not get DA. If I fail to get accepted into that new Allen program by the end of freshman year, can I no longer major in CS? Is that school the only option or is it some sort of honors thing?

@ccl002 was your major listed in the acceptance letter in the mail?

@Matthewlev13 you are in if u got business administration on the transcript! (Correct me if I’m wrong)

I heard from a Freshman that theirs didn’t change until September so we can’t trust that to be our source

@422525 You can apply for CS major every year.

Oh you’re right, sweet!

@blinkblink17 i chose neurobiology and i was placed in pre-science

@Matthewlev13 what time did you check?

@scubadiverman I’m not sure what you mean by that? I sent my transcripts in October/November but it never stated anything about it on my portal.

I applied for honors too but haven’t heard back from that… I read that they won’t review your application until you get into UW. Does anyone have an idea when that will be released? I’m OOS and applied biochem and neurobiology. Stats wise I have a 3.92UW GPA, 32 ACT, and 8 AP classes. I also go to one of the best/“hardest” public schools in my state but not sure if that granted me any merit for UW(I know it does to University of Michigan as we are a “feeder” school). I have some friends in Seattle and I think my school is pretty much the Michigan equivalent to Garfield.

If anyone’s transcript loads today, please let me know.

I wish everyone luck! Hope you guys get into UW! You guys are so lucky to have such an amazing public school in your state:)

@peachlemon I checked about an hour ago
