@kassyD My unofficial transcript was uploaded Wednesday and I got the Congratulations message on my portal yesterday
I’m still stressed out over here although there’s a helluva long period of admissions!! I really love UWashington!
I’m from California literally at UW right now and I don’t even have my decision yet :’(
When someone with shittier stats than you gets in…
Is it going to update tonight at midnight?
@uwletmeinpls You obviously haven’t done enough research on the UW to know it’s not all about stats. It’s about your essays and your EC’s.
@prayersforUW All this holistic review bullshit that almost all colleges pull?
I feel the admissions process through UW is a bit skewed with them placing emphasis on essays and EC’s. Somebody could write a magnificent essay and get in with a 3.0, while someone with a 4.0 is rejected. Many people can write spectacular essays but that does not necessarily mean they are ready to handle the challenging curriculum college offers. On the other hand, with someone who has earned a superb GPA and test scores have proven that they can handle the stress of hard courses, while receiving good grades in them. Unfair if you ask me.
For those who are angry that people lower stats got their acceptance already, you are showing you don’t belong at UW. UW’s process is holistic: they look for how you think, what made you the person you are today, etc. It’s all in the personal statement and how your EC’s show who you are/have made you who you are. Stats may show your efforts and intelligence, but in the end it’s just numbers.
Where have you seen that they focus more on essays? @Annabellemykitty
@scubadiverman that’s just a general quality of schools that do holistic review!
After reading multiple threads where people with extremely low stats got in, and stated that their essays were particularly great. And also with everybody on this discussion talking about it. @scubadiverman
My son is still waiting. No acceptance, no rejection. He suspects he’ll be waitlisted.
WA state resident. He’s probably borderline, as far as GPA / SAT goes (3.3, 1250) however he’s carried a fairly rigorous load the last couple years, typically taking 3-4 “college in the high school” courses each semester which he’s gotten credit for. His EC’s are solid (IMO), volunteer youth basketball coach, taekwondo for 7+ years (2nd degree BB), volunteer taekwondo instructor, rec league soccer the past 6-7 years (same team), and he also had a very creative essay. Desired major of Physics.
We’ve known he was accepted to Western and WSU for well over a month now. UW is his first choice, WWU his second. We just want to know so we can start moving forward in the process!
@CarlaC
When you press unofficial transcript, under college it should list Business College and under Major it should be Business Administration.
@mulan2017 Amen, people who are getting angry at other people getting accepted with higher stats obviously don’t belong at the UW. Doesn’t matter if you have a 4.8 GPA, if you wrote a bad essay they’ll deny you. If you have a 3.0 GPA but you wrote an extraordinary essay, they’ll accept you. Simple as that.
I thought my essays were spectacular, I spent a month on the fuckers and had tons of current UW students review for me. The rejection is starting to sink in, I heard they are emailing them out today so bracing for that. With 3.83 UW and 32 ACT idk where I messed up.
@uw2021pls I really think you will get in. If you have had people review your essay and also have that great of stats, I don’t see how they will reject you.
Im hearing that essays really mean a lot. I honestly forgot what essay i wrote to Wash. is there anyway to check your whole application at this point?
@uw2021pls It’s only the 3rd day of the decision window! LOTS of people are still waiting to find out, one way or another, whether UW was a stretch application or easy make. Have faith
@13elieve422 Hi. I listed Medical Lab Science as my first major and Biology as my second major. On my transcript it says Pre-Health Sciences for college of arts and science so I think maybe we might have been accepted for Med Lab as our major because I’m not even sure they do DA for Med Lab.
