@futurehusky218 I am extremely active in band-like I said I’m a state-level saxophonist and I’m also the drum major for the band. I played football through sophomore year, did Eco car which got me into Engineering, and tutor six kids each week on various saxophones. I’ve had a few odd jobs working for people in my small town, which I’ve been very active in all my life. Wrote my essay about the ties between music and engineering and how that’s affected my life (this was reviewed by multiple teachers, and especially my AP Lang teacher who loved it.) I’m at a loss for words because I don’t understand what went wrong or what my weak point in my application that caused me to be put on this waitlist was. To be frank, I know someone at school who is an Alaskan native and doesn’t participate in the community (shuts himself in his room all day), and has both a lower GPA and SAT than myself, yet was admitted into UW for his “outstanding application.” I draw only one conclusion from that.
In california, recieved my UW acceptance letter mailed today
WOOOO finally received the mail! The wait paid off, Purple and Gold Scholar!!!
@ErikSchmiesing - I feel for you. Some of those ‘holistic’ admissions just left me at loss and shaking my head too.
That being said, I like holistic admission process but as long as it’s done right.
My son was accepted into engineering, but we decided if he didnt get direct admit he would’t go. I think you have to be willing to pursue a different major or change schools, and he isn’t
Just got my UW acceptance letter in the mail! (I live in the Midwest by the way)
I got my acceptance letter but didn’t get the purple & gold scholarship. Disappointed because I was really hoping I would be able to afford it
Anyone from OOS got CS DA yet? I just want to test the theory that they really favor in-state for the direct admissions.
@squirly7 do you mind me asking what state in mid west? Any other OOS receive their packet in the mail yet? Wondering in Indiana…
Daughter received acceptance letter in the mail today - California. Nice Purple & Gold scholarship too!! I think I am more excited than she is.
Accepted for Pre-Science

Got accepted DA to business administration! Does anyone know the policy for deferring admissions for a gap year, and/or how a deferral might affect the DA into Foster?
Hey guys so I recently got rejected to UW and I decided to write an appeal. If any of you know information on appeals do you think you can take a look at my appeal and give me some advice on if it’s convincing or not? I’d really appreciate the help
Received the acceptance letter with P&G scholarship notification in Hawaii today.
Hi guys! Recently got accepted into direct engineering, but when I looked at the financial aid status on the portal and clicked on “resources review/update” it said that my total resources was $45,120. Does this entail that my scholarship money awarded to me was $45,120 or that my expected contribution is $45,130?
The following is the only message they provide above the total resources:
“These are the reported or calculated resources that the Office of Student Financial Aid has used to determine your eligibility for aid. If you see “Expected Student Contribution” or “Expected Parent Contribution”, these are figures calculated using information from a FAFSA you filed. If you have been awarded scholarships, loans, or other educational aid that does not appear in the list below or is listed incorrectly, fill in the “Additional Resources Information” below to tell us of the update. Changes in your resources may require us to revise your aid award.”
did you guys get any information about financial aid yet? I’m OOS so im only expecting Pell grant but even that does not show up on my portal. Also, can we only find out about scholarship decisions through mail?
Does anyone know what percentage of applicants who indicate Engineering majors are accepted thru the Direcf to College plan?
@bogeyorpar it says right on the CSE website
https://www.cs.washington.edu/academics/ugrad/admissions/direct
@otintheschools “Direct to college” replaced “Direct to major” in the school of engineering. You can’t get something that is no longer offered.
