***Official UW Class of 2023 Decision Thread***

@Mojo88

Thank you. Yes I missed. D got in the major she applied for. Best luck to all still are waiting!

The only rectangle on myuw is for “manage UWNetID Account.” I have scrolled up and down, there is no other mention.

Here’s how my son won a world championship in robotics, but ultimately lost a chance to attend UW Engineering.

First, he’s a decent student: 1500 SAT, 3.8 GPA (IB)

The problem: He’s the lead engineer for a FIRST (FRC) robotics team. He became obsessed with designing the best robot possible and ultimately lead his team to a first place finish in Houston for the world championship. His robot also won an innovation award last year and just won an award for autonomous excellence this past week, where the team made it to the finals. (He’s still the lead engineer.)

Why is that a problem? Because he spent countless hours working in CAD, 3D printing, whiteboarding, cutting metal, testing, etc. and too little time not doing robotics. It’s clear now that UW Engineering wants more well-rounded engineers.

He achieved the highest level in an engineering club but ultimately got denied for spending too much time in the club. There is no doubt that he could have a 4.0+ and increased his SAT score, but it was all about robotics, all the time.

So, it pains me to say this, but my advice is if your son or daughter are in an engineering type of club in high school, don’t let them get so passionate about it that they don’t branch out into community service and whatever else UW Engineering might be looking for. We know of other students who got into UW Engineering who only put down “FIRST Robotics” on their application and didn’t spend a fraction of the time in the club that our son did. So, it’s a game, you just have to play it better than we did.

Did you ever receive an email from them inviting you to create a UW Net ID?

Hi guys, I have a question.
So I applied for Applied and Computational Mathematical Sciences, and on my offer later it said I got pre-sciences. So does that mean I got ACMS? Bc in the link on the letter, in the table, ACMS corresponded to pre-sciences. But I just heard that everyone gets pre-sciences and they only put you in the major later based off of later grades?
So am I in for ACMS or not?
Pls help ?

@friedeggsandham, you were admitted pre-science because your first choice major, ACMS, does not have a freshman direct admission pathway. Your aptitude and potential for success in this major were considered in the holistic review of your application for admission.

You will need to demonstrate that aptitude and potential at the college level in specific prerequisite courses before you can gain admission to the major:

“Applications are accepted at the beginning of autumn and spring quarters. Admission is competitive. Admission decisions are based on grades in core courses and a student’s overall academic record. Completion of minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. Minimum requirements: minimum 2.50 GPA in the following courses, with a minimum 2.0 grade in each course: CSE 142, CSE 143; MATH 124, MATH 125, MATH 126; one from MATH 307, MATH 308, AMATH 351, AMATH 352.”

Anyone know when the letters are typically mailed out? I know it includes the P&G scholarship, and I’m literally praying 24523E10 times a day that I’m given $6500 a year or more (otherwise I can’t go and since I was rejected by UC Davis the other UCs are not too likely and now I’m getting REALLY worried)

I’m hoping we receive them early this week. I saw a post on Instagram (I think) that showed someone holding their letter. Good luck.

@noah2425 I feel you. My D was accepted from UC Davis, but not sure if she has any scholarship. We are from Texas, attending to either UC Davis or UW are expensive and we are hopping to get some kind of scholarship. But schools are taking their time, this makes every one frustrated. She has very good scholarship from Indiana University.

@“2605 Mandy Way” best of luck to your D, I’m a California student so the UCs fortunately are affordable, but just a complete luck of the draw to get in. It’s a shame the UCs hardly offer aid to OOS

ADMITTED TO FOSTER THROUGH FRESHMAN DIRECT

In-State
31 ACT
3.88 GPA

When did you receive your acceptance? I still didn’t get mine

Accepted

Has anyone SoCal received their letter in the mail yet? D was accepted but still waiting for letter and potential P&G.

Has anybody seen how much financial aid they got? or is that not out yet

I just submitted by appeal lol

@WhichCampus thats unfortunate. But I am sure there are top schools which are looking exactly for the kind of student ur son is. No matter where he goes that kind of passion will set him apart and he will do well. Hang in there ! This is a tough period for a lot of us.

Has anyone reading this received their letter in the mail, and if so, where do you live? There are several Instagram posts with people holding the UW poster that must have been included. Anyone get P&G info?

My D received her acceptance letter in the mail on Saturday but no FA info. We live in western WA

My Son received it Friday. No finantial info.
