***Official UW Class of 2023 Decision Thread***

Anyone else get an email from UW about the decision dates?

Yep!

@bbaaange @finn1313 what did it say?

yeah i did

@xceptionunhandle

it said:

Dear _____,

It’s been a long wait, we know, but decisions are coming soon. This year, the University of Washington received over 45,000 freshman applications. (That’s a lot of reading!) We look forward to sending out decisions March 1-15. But please remember:

Not all decisions go out at once and certainly not all on March 1.
Set up your UW NetID (if you haven’t already) in order to check your decision on MyUW.
If you are not admitted to the UW, you will receive notification via email.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Paul Seegert
Director of Admissions
University of Washington

Yeah…my D got it too. Was it a generic email sent to all applicants?

@sagh527 thanks. Generic email.

1450 SAT (770m/680r)
3.98 uw gpa 4.25 w gpa
Took like 6 APs
Do I have any chance at direct admission into CS?

@jckdlmtt I would like to know as well, since I have similar stats to you and am also applying for direct admission into CS. I am out-of-state all the way on the East Coast and an Asian girl.

@jckdlmtt @AwaitingApplicant131 Realistically there are no telling objective stats or attributes of CS direct admits. The program is very competitive (past years had a sub-5% acceptance rate + does heavily favor in-state applicants) and UW takes pride in its truly holistic admissions process. There’s really no way to know until decisions are released! Good luck to you both.

I saw in that email that UW said “Not all decisions go out at once and certainly not all on March 1.” Do we think that means that this year some decisions may come out on the 1st?

@reinawrites it doesn’t fit the pattern of the last couple years, but I sure hope so!! I’m holding out hope for March 1 release. With the wording of the email it does seem plausible

This email from UW admissions seems unhelpful and unnecessary. The “March 1-15th” decision dates have been listed on their website from the beginning. I wish schools that send the “decisions are coming soon” emails would just stop. Send an email or portal update only when there is significant news!

I am here as my d just received this pointless email! Nothing new except to heighten anxiety. The UDub is her first choice school. Her overall GPA is low as she had just arrived from overseas Freshman year of high school and skipped 8th grade. Her GPA Junior year was around 3.8 and currently weighted is a 4.3. That is the main strike against her so although they promise a holistic reading of applications who knows? ? Good luck everyone!

Good luck everyone!

@GreenwichPark 3.8 is not a low gpa dude…if everything else is solid it’s as good as a 4.0.

I’m just in shock that someone would call a weighted gpa of 4.3 “low”.

If that is low…what is medium? and what is high?

I think there will be at least some decisions released on March 1. Otherwise, why would they say Not All will be released that day. Let’s just hope we get ours Friday.

Do you believe the portal will be updated on Friday even if there is no email or letter sent home yet?

@dawglover portal update coincides with posting of an admissions decision. Most everyone will get their decision via the portal before it arrives in the mail. Emails are sent if you are rejected. + very few, if any, applicants will likely get their decision on Friday.
