I’m just a bit shocked.

[] Strengths: Probably my essay, course load/transcript, maybe recs?
[] Weaknesses: SCORES! haha
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I can’t say, in all honesty. But I suppose I just fit some sort of spot in their acceptances for their publicized “diverse community”.
[/ul]General Comments:
If you have low scores, do not be discouraged! Mine are kinda horrible compared to what you see on this site, and most top school’s middle 50%. If you really want a chance at a school like this, show who you are in your application and maybe great things will happen like what I found in my mailbox today
But now, for the difficult part of deciding where to go and waiting for a couple more schools…
Congrats to everyone who has been accepted so far, and to those who may still be accepted!

[li] Why you think you were waitlisted: White American male applying for Engineering. Even though I show enough potential to be considered, still at a big disadvantage.[/li][/ul]General Comments: Vanderbilt was not really a top pick but they probably would have offered the best financial aid. Other schools aren’t offering enough, and Duke is now my last hope for a decent aid package. If not there, I guess I’m gonna go apply for the loan to attend an in-state school!

Can someone verify if envelopes arrived to PA yet? is it true that admitted applicants receive a 2-day priority envelope with “Congratulations” written on it? Thanks.

@bsalum: yes, acceptances are in a large, 2-day priority envelope with “Congratulations” written on it. BUT, even priority mail can be delayed, so hang in there.

It’s in a flat-rate priority mail envelope (the ones that are kinda like a really thin cardboard) and the address is printed on a large sticker/label that says congratulations on the bottom.

Thanks for the info SeekingUni!

Are rejections 2-day priority also?

Yes. Rejections are priority also per the Admissions office.

Can someone confirm that rejections are priority also? That doesn’t sound right to me. I’m pretty sure I’m rejected, but West Coast and still haven’t received anything. Just wondering. Not looking forward to bad news, but kind of want this process to be over with.

I’m in Illinois and I haven’t received anything yet

Waitlisted T___T
Asian male from highly competitive public school in NJ
3.2 GPA 1540/2290 SAT 800 SAT II MATH 790 SAT II CHEM
8 APs
Good ECs
Very strong essays

Rejection was not Priority Mail - regular First Class.

And it was a regular first class letter in terms of content. Very nicely written and it hit all the high points about how awesome I am - just not awesome enough for Vandy.

I didn’t expect to get in, what with Vandy’s chip-on-their-shoulder inferiority complex problem with Ivy’s, Stanford and Duke making them go for scores (I mean what is a Vandy student body like comprised of a mid 50% ACT of 33-35?)

But I understand its a “doggie-dog” world (*Modern Family *reference for all you 33-35 mid 50%'ers out there) and Vandy has to make the decisions they have to make.

I’m just glad they didn’t offer me admission 'cuz I would’ve accepted it and then I would’ve been sad.

In the final analysis - Vandy is in Nashville. I mean, come on, Nashville?
