Official Vanderbilt ED1 Class of 2020 Discussion Thread

Hey guys! Same boat as all of you… waiting patiently and anxiously… How much of the admissions process do you think is a crapshoot? I have all necessary things that Vandy is looking for, president of community service clubs, founded an anti-substance abuse alliance with a $125,000 grant from the government, I am an IB student, play varsity sports, I have ACT scores in the mid 50 range and my GPA is very high blah blah blah, etc, etc, etc. I know that I have the qualifications, but does anyone know how many qualified applicants they turn down?? I AM SO NERVOUS OMG!

Like most top 20 schools they turn down alot of academically qualified students. But if you’re applying ed, the odds of admissions are slightly higher

I did apply ED (: Hoping that will help me out a bit!

The ED admit rate was 22.5% last year, but I have a feeling it’ll go down this year as Vanderbilt is becoming more recognized. There’s certainly a lot of kids applying ED with Vandy as their dream reach school (with lower test scores and whatnot) so your chances might be slightly higher than the acceptance rate, but they still definitely turn away plenty of qualified students. It’s certainly not a Harvard or Stanford level crapshoot though (at least not ED  )

@collegebobollege thanks! it’s crazy how you think you can be perfect for a school yet they can still reject you… super nervous for results omg! Can it be decision day already???

Arghhh I just want to get accepted!

@Livingteen1209 SAME SAME SAMMEEEEEEEEEEE

Any chance decision will come out before 11th (If at all they come out by this time)

@Livingteen1209 I doubt it. I’m skeptical it’ll even come out then, I’m going to keep my expectations at December 15 (the official date)

This year’s ED students are much less active than the 2019 thread :frowning:

@lighght I’ve also noticed the same … Maybe fewer people applied ED1 to Vanderbilt

^I doubt it. More likely there are just fewer on College Confidential.

Maybe we are the only ones excited about Candy! :frowning:

Arghh auto-correct *Vandy

@Livingteen1209 @lighght that would actually be AWESOME

How big of a deal do you think grammar mistakes are in the common app essay. I was looking back after I submitted and saw that I forget to put “a” in one of my sentences. I was wondering if I am still ok even with a 2060 on the SAT. (640 CR/690 M/720 W) Also I applied ED 1. Thanks.

@Vandybio2020 I don’t think one tiny error will affect your chances of admission.

Do you still think that my scores are good enough for Vandy ED?

@Vandybio2020 Unfortunately, a 2060 is on the low side for Vanderbilt’s scores; however, I have seen people with a 2060 get accepted ED1. Your chances will come down to your EC’s and essay. Good luck! I hope to see you at Vandy next fall

I just hope that they release decisions on the 12th again like they did last year…

In that case, 15 more days!!!
