Official Vanderbilt ED1 Class of 2020 Discussion Thread

@hlsidle I think there is at least a shot as long as your EC’s are truly “great.” What kind of EC’s are you talking about?

Psychology  so so nervous!!! Best of luck to all of you!

@hlsidle while your scores are on the lower side for Vanderbilt, I know a friend who got in with a 1970. He, was a published novelist though.

I read somewhere on cc that most decisions have already been made- the clear admits and the clear denials. How true is this?

hey @Livingteen1209 me too with Mechanical Engineering major (:

@Livingteen1209 no one knows. They’ve probably made some decisions, while others will go to committee next week. But that’s just my guess.

Been following this thread for awhile. Finally decided to join in. I applied Ed to Peabody for Child Development.

I applied for political science and I’m so nervous, as I’m sure we all are!

@2016vu @coffeeandchrist welcome to the thread!

Now this is what I’m talking about!

As far as scores go, once you’ve gotten into the middle 50, your score won’t help, nor hurt you. If you are below, it could be a negative. If you are above, that’s a positive. As long as the rest of your application is great, a low (still pretty high!) score can’t kill your chances of admission.

With that said, I haven’t seen, nor heard of someone with above middle 50 scores being rejected early decision… But there’s a first for everything. Let’s hope that isn’t the case this year!

I didn’t send in my SAT II will it hurt my chances?

Absolutely not! SAT IIs can only help your application, they aren’t required. Now if you didn’t send 800s, I don’t know what you’re thinking!

Oh wow I wasn’t expecting so many replies!

I originally was going to apply to Blair for musical arts but chickened out and applied as a Physics major LOL :))

Ooh such different choices @lighght ! Are you thinking of possibly switching schools after you are accepted? I applied engineering, but am contemplating switching to College of Arts and Sciences for the Communication of Science and technology major (if I get in lol)

hi guys! I have been reading this thread since it first started, and finally thought I would say hello! Hoping we all get in, and anxiously waiting for these next two weeks to fly by!

Anyone from California or Nebraska?

@11countrymusic11 I might! But I think I’m better off doing an Arts and Sciences major and a Blair minor, assuming I get it haha.

Did anyone else not realize that we could schedule interviews until after the deadline had passed?? Haha I guess they must not be that big of a factor because I hadn’t even heard about them until I started reading some comments.
