****OFFICIAL VANDERBILT RD 2018 Decisions*****

Yes @sophie1295 Thanks. I edited after I found the email in the spam box.

my, Sophie, what big hands you have!

???

the dog, Sophie, she’s so cute, and appears to have large paws. is she yours?

Haha, no! But I have a golden retriever who used to look like that when she was a puppy. Now she’s all grown up! I know I should have used her picture but this one just melts my heart!

So here’s the blog post which says that admissions decisions will be available online:
<a href=“MyAppVU: Vanderbilt’s New Application Management Portal | The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University”>http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2013/10/myappvu-vanderbilts-new-application-management-portal/

Says you’ll be able to “View your admissions decision (after published response date for your decision plan)”

I’m interpreting this to confirm what someone else said: they will post the info when all the RD decisions are ready for mailing, or after they’re mailed, or the day after that. I’m predicting that mailing date is Monday Mar 24, based on last year’s actual date.

Good luck to all.

Decision: Accepted by Blair School of Music, Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholar

Objective:

[] SAT I (breakdown): 2190 (one sitting)
[] ACT: Didn’t take
[] SAT II: Didn’t take
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.15
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 207/321
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): Human Geo (4) World history (3)
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): N/A
[] Senior Year Course Load: band, orchestra, AP Lit, AP art history (1st semester), Econ honors, us gov honors, anatomy honors, PE, AP psych (1st semester). I had to switch out of art and psych to fulfill PE graduation requirements.

Subjective:

[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Tri M Music Honor Society (Historian), students against melanoma club
[] Job/Work Experience: I teach private French horn lessons each week, and I play in a paying orchestra
[] Volunteer/Community service: I volunteer at a children’s science museum (500+ hours over four years), and I run a club at school where kids from our band program visit local middle schools and tutor the music students on their instruments.
[] Summer Activities: FSU Music Camp, Brevard Music Center
[] Essays: Common App was about my struggle with Trichotillomania and how I overcome the stigma associated with the disorder. Supplement was about how I learn just as much as my students do when I teach.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Very good.
[] Counselor Rec: My guidance counselor was very helpful throughout my four years in high school, as I had to take a medical leave. We have a close relationship, so I’m sure it was good
[] Additional Rec: My music teacher did this one, so I think it was good.
[li] Interview: N/A
[/li]

Other

[] State (if domestic applicant): Florida
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Public Arts Magnet
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):

Reflection

[] Strengths: SAT, essays, recs, audition*
[] Weaknesses: gpa, rank
[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: my audition, sats, and essays. I have a valid medical excuse as to why my grades and rank are what they are, and I could not be happier that VU saw past the numbers on my transcript and instead saw me as an applicant and person.
[li] Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: Accepted at U Miami, still waiting on Northwestern and IU Jacobs[/li][/list][ b]General Comments:** I could not be more thrilled. Things happen for a reason after all. :)

acciofrenchhorn, how did you find that out??

@aolswing
@acciofrenchhorn is a recipient of the Cornelius Vanderbilt Scholarship so they get their notification of admission several weeks before the official date.

Blair releases their CV offers later than do the other subschools at Vandy undergrad. Not sure why but I believe judging talent for slots in music performance programs is a difficult process based on auditions as well as academic records. Congrats to acciofrenchhorn. Hope Music City and the beautiful facilities at Blair bring you much happiness. The Nashville Symphony Hall itself is amazing and offers students reduced tix rather often as well.

@matrixsurgeon thanks! I was having a mini heart attack there…refreshing myappvu page over and over

great news, accio! congratulations! what an exciting four years it’s been, eh? From medical issues to Blair admission and CV scholarship! Woohoo, pretty heady stuff. I too am glad VU’s AOs could treat your app holistically. Score one for the good guys.

Am I the only one that’s freaking out about this?

no, but I take heart from the fact that pomona college released their acceptances today, a couple week ahead of expectation. And now there is just one to await.

Decisions should come out in a few days. Never been so excited or scared for anything in my life!

do you think they will come out on monday or friday or some other day?

Does anyone know if Financial Aid Packages come out the same day as the rest of RD decisions or are they on the hard strict day of April 1st? Some schools release them at the same time while others keep them staggered, thats why I am asking.

do you guys think decisions might be posted on monday?

I think they’ll be MAILED on Monday. Last year’s RD decisions were mailed on the 25th and the previous year’s on the 23rd. Acceptances are sent via priority mail, so we should receive them within 1-3 days depending on where you live in the states.

so nothing on our portal?
