Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

Accepted. Stats:

Private top 30 LAC
3.9 GPA (48 credits completed, 64 after this semester)–applied for junior year
Econ/Math
HS GPA 3.65 UW
1300 SAT
lots of EC (not that I think that matters)

Congrats, transferneow! Thanks for posting stats.

Rejected today Friday April 27th. Letter was sent Tuesday April 24th. Email confirmation that my application was complete on March 9th.

Applied to College of Arts and Sciences for Biological Sciences.

From a community college in PA.
56 college credits, 3.6GPA overall, 4.0GPA Math/Science including Org Chem 1 and 2.
2190 SAT super score taken in Dec. and Jan. of this year, never took it in HS.
My recommendations were solid, written by my Orgo professor, English professor, and Calc BC professor.
22 years old, bi-racial male, took a break from college for 1.5 years due to a medical condition (I honestly hate when people add this like it’s some kind of excuse for poor work but I feel that you guys want any info you can get).
Not much in the way of EC’s at all to be honest,
Part time work about 20-30 hours a week as a sales associate.

Any other questions just ask and I’ll answer when I get around to it. Good luck to everyone else.

Sorry bro. You’d think you would have at least gotten waitlisted with those stats. Good luck with other schools.

Keep your head up, man. You’ll do great no matter where you go. Keep up the good work.

Still no letter…I can only look at it positively in that at least I still have a glimmer of hope…
@guyatCC- sorry bro, you got good stats though, Im sure youre gonna do well wherever you decide.

no letter as well. Praying everyday that I could get in

Waitlisted
parents received the letter at home today…
college gpa: 3.67
hs gpa: 3.5
act: 28
a few ec’s, internship in the winter
large top 50 state school, I applied to enter as a freshman.
Does anyone know how many are accepted off of the waitlist historically?

Apparently they mail decision on Fridays. I called undergrad admissions and that’s what the lady told me. This whole process is frustrating, but if you haven’t heard anything yet, maybe you’ll hear something the beginning of next week.

The deadline for a decision is May 1st for the other school I applied to. I’m ready to pull my hair out! >.<

^my letter was actually postmarked Tuesday, so I would assume that they are sending decisions in waves each week. Anyone else waitlisted?

i haven’t been following this thread so maybe this question has already been asked but what gpa do we have to maintain for the spring semester to make sure the acceptance isn’t rescinded? i just found out that i got in and the excitement has already been replaced with concern over a couple of borderline grades i have. i know that the faq on the vanderbilt transfer website says they typically expect 3.0+ but i find it hard to believe that their threshold is so low.

Accepted in Arkansas

College GPA- 3.93
HS GPA- 2.3
ACT: I am 23 and took the act over 5 years ago so they did not make me send it in; I made a 24 or 25 - I think.

What got me in was the research that I have conducted, my ec’s, and letters written from Chancellor and Governor of state. I conducted important research on a degrading stream in my county and will be presenting my research at a national conference. I will advise anybody who will be applying to Vandy to understand that it is a private RESEARCH university. The research happening in that school is absolutely amazing; especially the work that Dr. Guengerich is doing - but I am biased. So having a background in research will greatly improve your chances of getting in to this school. Or any research university for that matter; I received a letter of acceptance to Emory as well.

I can tell you that I never dreamed that with my history in high school I could have ever gotten into such great schools. However, if you have the drive to put in the work to apply for research grants, and have the drive to do the research itself, you will most probably get in.

Take my advise all you prospective transfers!! Show your hard work ethic by taking initiative in research.

Got acceptance letter today. But I will be taking my talents to UNC-Chapel Hill =)

I will email the admissions office to withdraw my application so that I can free up the spot for one of you guys. Good luck!

Waitlisted by mail today. I’m probably going to be withdrawing from it, as I was accepted to UVA, which is higher on my list of where I’d like to go.

waitlist in cali, but got into UCB today, so I aint trippinnnn  good luck to everyone!!

College GPA- 3.77
HS GPA- 3.1
SAT : 2010

Also got into Chapel Hill…I think the reason I was accepted was due to my boatload of ECs/club leadership positions, my work for the disabled and the rigor of my courses (i.e. 8 classes first semester).

Still no mail! I’m getting frustrated!

@raksudum OK LeBron lol

Waitlisted! actually really happy about it…i got into usc so ill probably be goin there but im not 100% sure

3.9 college gpa
3.1 hs gpa
good letters of rec
ec’s: I work at a grocery store and I was an all league runner in hs
essays were decent
my biggest advice to ppl reading this in the future is to star your essays early!
good luck everyone, i hope your dreams come true!

I got into Vandy and UNC. Where should I go? Accepted to transfer into both. Which provides the better transfer experience? In regards to cost, Vanderbilt will actually be SLIGHTLY cheaper, while UNC will give me a free laptop.

I’m from NYC, went to a top 100 HS, but slacked off and ended up in my local public college. Where should I go and why?
