Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2012 Transfer Thread

Do they send admission desicion via email or regular mail?

I have a friend who transferred last year and he got his decision via mail.

I talked to admissions today and they told me my app was complete and I have not sent in the mid-term report because it was not asked for.

Stats:
GPA:3.6, 30 credits working on 12 now
Current School: Private, top 50 school
HS GPA: 3.6/3.5 W/UW
ACT: 27
ECs: quite a few in HS, only debate in college and a job tutoring homeless children
I also got the mistake email, very disappointing.

I’m applying to Peabody, is anyone else?

the ao told me that domestic applicants will receive their decisions by mail and international applicants will get decisions via email fisrt. They can’t give the exact date but I think it’s probably gonna be next friday(20th). At that time, UNC might release decisions too. Do you have any idea when will Brandeis release decisions? The website said from mid April on rolling basis, but I can find very few people on cc transfering to Brandeis.

I heard they are mailing out decisions starting May 1st from my friend who goes to vandy.

Grr. I don’t like this wait.

^ I agree…lets just keep our fingers crossed

@GregFields.
You said you were from Stockton?

Train by Day Joe Rogan podcast by night - Nick Diaz 209?

I was told that the first round is being sent out tomorrow.

@transfermeow Who told you they were being sent out tomorrow?

A financial aid coordinator.

That is nerve wrecking.

I hope I got in.

ACT 34
President of two organizations (high school: FIRST FRC Team and Church Youth Group)
Freshmen finishing first year at college
Music Major
Asian (Slim chance of affirmative action?)

Does anyone know if getting accepted into the music school will help my chances of getting into the general school? The music school already told me that I was accepted (into the music program).

Thanks

Then i’m pretty sure you are accepted? i could be wrong but from my understanding transfers apply to the schools. For example, i’m applying to be in Peabody so if Blair told you that you’ve been accepted then you should be in?

I have no idea about music though…

After talking with the Blair folks, my impression was that General Admissions was separate.

I know that there are places that are completely school-independent admissions, like Northwestern (Evanston). If you get into the music school, then you’re automatically in to the entire University. Some kids abuse the system though. They get in through music and then switch over to the Engineering school as soon as they get there.

As I cannot speak specifically to Blair, I know that as applicants, we have applied to specific schools within Vanderbilt and that is how they are determined, to my understanding. Under their FAQ for transfer students under declaring a major it outlines different times for kids in different schools, meaning even if we don’t have a declared major we are still a part of one school or another

Well, I guess I will just have to wait and see!!!

@Keehun,
I believe that you are accepted if Blair has notified you because applicants have to choose which school to apply to. I almost applied to Blair as a freshman and I was told I should choose by an admissions counselor, depending on which I thought I had a better chance at. The reason that I think you are accepted is because I was told that if Blair rejects you then you are rejected by the school, so it must work vice versa, no?

Also, I e-mailed my counselor today and she said that she thinks the first round of letters is being sent this week/early next week. She told me if I hadn’t heard then I could check back in with her next week.

Well, I wasn’t told in an official communication from Blair.

I’m a trumpet player, and my department chair sent me a personal email after my audition weekend saying he enjoyed my visit there and that the faculty had accepted my audition. Again, we will wait and see!

So, if anyone hears, let us know right away! I’m so anxious.

hey transfer217, how long did it take for your counselor to get back to you? Mine haven’t gotten back to me
