Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

My friends back home know, but at college I’ve only told my advisor and professor I’m asking for letters of rec from, and one close friend who’ve I’ve known through all of high school. There are so many unknowns at this point that I don’t want this to color people’s interactions with me.

Yolocholo: I’m just gonna ignore it. That main essay was more than enough trouble to write.

I’m the exact same way. I’m too scared to tell anyone about me applying. I’m afraid they’d all sneer and tell me I’m not good enough so why bother?

If they do act like that, ignore them.

I’m keeping it to myself outside a few close friends and will surprise the parents if it works out…can relate the the sneering as I’d get that from certain friends/extended family

On the Vanderbilt Transfer Supplement, I am required to put my “Major of Interest”, and I also have the option to put my “Other Major of Interest”. Is this meant for people who want to double major, or does “Other Major of Interest” more so refer to a second choice/backup major?
And I haven’t told too many people about transferring either. I want to worry about being accepted first.

I think it’s referring to a backup/another option.

Thanks. That was my initial belief, but then I started over-thinking it. As the saying goes, trust your gut instinct :-)

Yes! Unless your gut is telling you to do something stupid.

i am tell only a few ppl about transferring until i get in somewhere I am also applying to Richmond,Colby, and UNC

Are any of you back at school? I just got back today. It is starting to hit me that the months of time I had for application materials/letters of rec/etc. are now dwindling down into weeks. Yikes! Needless to say, it motivates me to do better… That hopefully this will be my last semester at my current school and my next one will be at Vandy!

Okay - I’m ranting… sorry!

Rants are fine! That actually reminds me that I need to start asking for LOR.

anontransfer93 - feel your pain start tomorrow…slacked off a bit over break and have to get my supplement essays done before classes get into full swing…goal is to finish them up Sunday so I’m not distracted. Also time to harass teachers for LOR’s very soon

I am in the same boat. I started class today, and the deadlines for all the transfer stuff seem to be creeping up pretty quickly. My goal is to have all my application/supplement material done by the end of this weekend, and then I plan on starting with my LORs, College Report/Transcripts, Secondary School Report/Transcripts, etc.

Currently sitting at my desk printing off all sorts of forms… Instructor evaluations, college official report, etc. So many envelopes and stamps and filling out the same information over and over. Can’t wait to finally send this all out!

I’m currently a freshman at Emory univeristy and I really want to go to vanderbilt, but I’m not sure if I’ll get in. I applied last year as a first year applicant but I was waitlisted, and I never got off the waitlist. Do I have a better chance this year? these are my stats:

I want to major in math and chemical engineering

I’m back at school and just starting to slog through the application. Visited in Dec. and really want to be a Commodore. I think my test scores are going to screw me though.

I was found responsible by the residence halls for being in the presence of alcohol and I was wondering if anyone knows if that will end up on my transcript?

I believe (from what I saw printing off the college officials report last night) that your college official is supposed to send your official transcripts as well as a disciplinary record, if it is available.

Newtocollege - isn’t it beautiful? I know there is construction on West End at the moment for a new dorm, but besides that I’m in love with the campus as well. What are your test scores?

So, my application has been done since October 16-ish because I wanted to get it done early so that I would impress them and have mine viewed first and them be all like “wow, he jumped on the ball, that’s great, look how good, etc.” … but now I’m starting to regret not putting more time into it - especially the most crucial part: the essay. Anyhow, I dropped off my LOR forms today and those should be sent off soon. Then, the only other part they are missing is my college transcript, and that will be fixed up to be sent off tomorrow. And lastly, the Mid-Term Report will be done around mid-terms…almost done! Anyone else as nervous as me??
