I guess I’ll give applying to Vanderbilt a second thought. I might apply as a computer science major.

My stats are as follows:

High School GPA: 3.25

College GPA: It better be a 4.0 (Lowest possible at this rate is around 3.8. 45 Credits when I apply)

ACT: 32
E: 30
M: 34
CR: 32
S: 30

Current EC: IEEE (Robotics), Student Government, Programming Club, CS Capture the Flag.

Do you think it will go against me if I’ve made a C+ in one of my classes? I’ve made all A’s/A minuses, plus a B+ in Biology 101 (but I made an A in Bio 102) and the C+ in a difficult language class. But I’m also taking another language class and am looking to pull an A. Or am I just over thinking this?

I doubt ONE C will hurt too much, esp. if it was a difficult class. Just try not to get a second one.

I’m surprised more people haven’t commented on this thread. Looking back at threads from last year there seemed to be more activity around late October.

I’m surprised too. Hopefully more people will flock here and we’ll be able to compare stats.

I’m so stuck on what to include in my essay. Has anyone started?

The question is why you want to transfer out of your school… If you can’t even answer that, why are you even looking to transfer?

I honestly don’t want to make it look like I’m putting down my current school… I’m trying to find ways of saying Vandy is a better fit

That’s exactly my problem. It’s pretty hard to not knock your school/hometown when you’re trying to explain why you wanna leave.

When are you planning on submitting your application? Also, does anyone even mail in hard copies anymore? I was planning on doing that. I don’t mind writing everything out, it just gives me piece of mind knowing a physical copy is there. Weird I know but oh well!

I’ll probably send it out before Spring semester starts. That’s assuming my essays aren’t still horrible by then.

You’ve got plenty of time to start/revise/edit your essay. I’m trying to get mine reviewed by different people who can help me fine tune it. There is hope!

I’ve started mine but I feel like I got a little too off-topic by telling them my high school life story.

I had the same concerns and discussed them with my admissions counselor. She basically told me what’s done is done and that the majority of their evaluation would be on college coursework, but she also said that’s not to say that they won’t look at high school work. I’m freaking out too but hopefully our much better college performances will make up for it.

By the way, are we seriously the only 4 people who are interested in transferring/applying to Vanderbilt? This thread has almost 1,000 views yet hardly any comments besides us. Speak up you lurkers!

Seriously! Because the thread from last year had a ton of people commenting on it. Maybe after finals/during winter break people will come here.

I finally found a vanderbilt transfer thread! Its good to see I’m not the only one. vandy seems like the perfect mix of academics and social life. I’m currently at hopkins and ill definitely be filing a transfer application. I actually got denied from vandy as a freshman but I hope my luck is better this time around

I’m sure the second time will be better! What are your stats?

HS GPA: 3.86 unweighted, 4.56 weighted
SAT: 2190
other stuff: varsity lacrosse 3 years, varsity wrestling 3 years, math club VP, habitat for humanity, science olympiad

College GPA: no idea yet, should be 4.0 because we have pass/fail first semester and I’m doing well (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering major)
other stuff: PAWS, habitat for humanity, varsity lacrosse team manager, maybe club lacrosse

Wow! Your stats are insane. I’m sure you’ll get in.
