Whats the LOR? idk I was curious what other people are doing. Does it really matter how early we get it in?

Letters of Recomendation or those evals.

are you applying for spring or for fall?

Vandy only accepts fall, don’t they?

Yeah you’re right. I should probably get those evals to my professors then to fill out.

are you having your academic advisor help you with the process or are you sending everything in? I have a friend at vilanova who said his advisor is helping him with everything

I’m doing everything on my own. I’m waiting to send everything in after I get my final grades and talk to my parents.

So…what is it about Vandy you all like? Did you visit with students on campus? What is the “vibe” there? is it preppy? Snobby? Friendly? Conservative? Liberal? Anyone spend the night and check out the greek scene? Having pretty much hated my current school, which is full of rich kids, I’m a little gun shy about going to another affluent one. I want nice, grounded, but intellectual kids who like to have a good time. Is that Vandy?

From what I’ve heard, it is Vandy.

well if you want we can meet up somewhere and talk about it. I’m not a fan of UCSB either so were on the same page about that. My main objection to UCSB is that it just simply isnt academic enough for me and the student body is way too focused on partying rather than studying. If you want a serious student body, then Vandy definitely has that. I stayed over for a weekend with friends who go there and I loved the vibe. It’s a hard school but you can always go out and have fun if you want but basically everyone is there to work. I went to the frats and its pretty intense but nothing comparable to a banger in IV though. In regards to the kids being rich- it is one of the most expensive schools in the country so you’ll get that there also. In conclusion, I’d say that that is Vandy, and everyone I know who goes there are pretty good kids who like to have fun and work hard.

i thought you were the kid who responded to me about ucsb… scratch that bit

I’m planning to apply after finals - early January at the latest. I’m waiting to get my final grades and give an updated resume to my old professors who are writing my recommendation letters. However, I know the end of the semester is typically a busy time for them so that’s why I’m assuming not everything will be in until January-ish. I’m not having my academic advisor help me, especially since I go to a very large school and I don’t know my advisor that well. I also feel like that could potentially be awkward, and they have other kids to actually advise and not help me apply elsewhere…if that makes sense, but that’s just my opinion.

That sounds like what I plan on doing. I’ll ask for those evals/LOR after finals. I know my profs are busy right now.

No, IFC actually what you said rings true of my school as well. So thanks for answering.

Same here minus the partying. This school doesn’t foster academics…or whatever.

Same with my school! My problem is, how exactly do I say this in my essay without being extremely blunt or rude? I feel like there isn’t much of a “graceful” way to incorporate this.

I was just like "This school does not have capacity (or whatever) to help me grow my interests.

I feel somewhat vulnerable giving rough drafts of my essay for people to read, considering how personal/honest I’m being… I should’ve started earlier so I could get it reviewed by tons of people but I’m not sure that I could do that now given the time constraints.

wait people isnt the deadline like next year or something, whats up with the rush??

It’s not until March! I’m not sure why I’m getting it in so early… keeps me motivated to go out with a bang this semester.
