Congrats! :D

Has anyone else who’s been accepted receive their financial aid package yet?

Yessss also just got my acceptance to Vandy, mom called me with the news.

I got my confirmation on 4-1 so seems others should be receiving it soon too. But still unsure if I will be attending, waiting on a few others.

ngabler4 - I have!

Finally Accepted!

Congrats to all of you!!! Can anyone who got accepted today tell me which state you are? Thanks:)

Still nothing for me in NY. There are 4 batches apparently, no? And I did send a midterm report, and I’m hoping my final grades get to them before they mail me my decision.

Oh my goshness. I’ve been accepted. Feeling uncomfortably elated at the moment.

Yeah I sent in my mid term as well about 2 weeks ago. I’m really surprised that I received my decision so soon. It maybe that my counselor had significantly less applications to read.

Now the important thing is the financial aid!

For those that received their packages: how generous was Vandy in meeting your financial need?

Oh my gosh, congratulations to all of you!!! That is SO awesome!

I’ll be home in an hour so maybe I have something waiting for me too… But I have two exams tomorrow so today would be like the worst day ever to get a rejection!

Yes, I’d like to second the question on the generosity of the financial aid. My situation is really bizarre this year so my EFC is way higher than it should be.

My application hasn’t been reviewed.

I am still waiting. I wonder why so many people received acceptances today, on a Wednesday. For the first wave, most admitted applicants received their acceptance packages on a Monday.

According to my acceptance letter it was mailed out on Monday since it was written on the 29th of April… It makes sense if you consider priority mail taking 2 days to get here. By the way for anyone who would be interested in knowing my stats are as follows:

HS GPA: 3.75 (I took the hardest course load possible which included a mix of IB and AP courses)
College GPA: 3.86
ACT: 32 Composite 33 English 32 Mathematics
EC: Lots of volunteering, several special activities such as shadowing geared towards my ambitions to be a doctor one day, joined lots of pre-health organizations at my college to show my passion for going into the pre-health field, research assistant in my college’s chemistry lab.
My intended major at Vanderbilt is Chemistry and the school I got into was the College of Arts and Sciences.
I also live in Texas/currently attending college in Texas.

Also, the acceptance letter comes in a big priority mail envelope and will most likely come in your mailbox. Yes, it can fit in there, I thought mine was too small but it was able to fit, albeit my acceptance letter being bent a little Anyways on the back it will have a pre-made sticker with Vanderbilt’s logo on it saying CONGRATULATIONS! with your name and address etc. When you open the envelope you will get: your acceptance letter, a pamphlet for accepted transfer students which includes dates for orientation and when school begins, etc. along with instructions on how to receive credit for your courses once you plan on matriculating. You also receive a yellow envelope for the $400 deposit, and you mail this to Vanderbilt. Lastly you receive a consent form where you sign your name saying you will/will not attend in the Fall and you include your $400 deposit with this if you’re attending. Hopefully this answers any questions about the acceptance packet itself, and good luck to the rest of you guys! As I’ve said on this thread several times, Vandy is a complete wild card when it comes to decisions. Mine was mailed on Monday, so you never know when yours might come in!

I forgot to mention I received my application complete email on April 1, 2013.

Accepted! Econ major

college gpa: 3.95 (cumulative of fall and winter quarter)

HS GPA: 4.12/5

SAT: 2120

I’m really happy for you guys. I haven’t heard and, at this point, I can only expect bad news. My theory is that Vandy is letting the top priority people in, seeing if they commit, then letting in the next wave in and so on until they reach their 220 number. If I’m in the lowest “wave” I’m just waiting for a rejection or WL. Congrats to all of you, though. I thought my good college recs would tip me over my low test scores. Now I think I just have to mentally commit to one of my other choices.

Quick question: how many of you wrote Vanderbilt specific essays on the common app since they don’t require a supplemental?

^ I am curious about this too. I did not write a specific essay. I did not know there was a way to customize the essay for certain schools until after I submitted my application. Initially I did not think it was too big a deal, but lately I have been worrying about it. Has anyone been accepted without mentioning Vanderbilt in the essay?

Vandy is the only school I applied to so I was able to mention Vanderbilt in my Common App essay.

My school only just mailed my second semester grades though. Hopefully it gets there by Friday.
