Has anyone checked the 2013 Transfer Facebook page? Last I checked there were around 20+ members, given that a couple are Vandy connectDores… I wonder how many more people have joined the group? Although obviously not all have a Facebook or have discovered the group.

I just checked and it has 70. How many spots are open for transfers? I assume this group is official because it is closed. Does anyone know if Vandy invites you to join this facebook group when you are accepted, or do you find it yourself? Sorry…I’m getting very specific.

edit: I guess it’s also possible that students are accepted, join the group, and eventually end up not attending Vandy.

I also haven’t heard anything. They didnt get my school report until later so my application wasnt complete until april 10, and i sent in my midterm report on the 15th so that may be why its so late. But like i said earlier i am all set to go to UVA right now

I know it’s a bit early to ask, but I want to know my chance for Fall 2014 transfer admission.
My GPA in HS is ~3.5 and my SAT is 1910(reading:540, math:730, writing:640 essay:10).
I attend a private high school in TN and will spend my first year in NY.
I got into a college as a pharmacy major, but I am hoping to change my major when I transfer.
During my high school year, I have completed one year of JV sport, two years of varsity sport, won three years of state championship, four years of orchestra, regional orchestra, one editor position for two years, and so on.
I was not very interested in Vanderbilt, but I loved it when I visited the college for an athletic event.
I am worried because my HS GPA and SAT are not spectacular enough to get into Vanderbilt.
Do you have any advice to increase my chance?

Kathy,
Although the admissions committee will look at your high school stats, they will place more focus on how well you do in college. Just make sure to earn good grades, and try to get involved on campus. Good luck.

Earlier in this thread, someone said that they are sending out decisions based on tiers. I’m assuming they are reviewing people from higher tier schools first and then getting to the rest of us. I think it makes sense. Anyone here still waiting from a top 25/top 40 school?

Richitar, I don’t think that was meant by “tiers.” I think what was implied (though certainly not verified) was that the applicants were divided into tiers from top candidates on down. The following is strictly my opinion: I actually believe this is a possible scenario, where Vandy is accepting top candidates, giving them 10 days to reply back, accepting the next wave, evaluating how many spots they have left, and so on. Those of us still waiting are probably more of the “would like to accept if there’s still room” candidates. They have stated they will enroll 220 transfer students (can’t remember where I saw this). I think they’ve switched to mailing on Monday (because reply dates for the first groups were Fridays - May 3 and May 10). So, hopefully, we’ll all be ACCEPTED today.

“Those of us still waiting are probably more of the “would like to accept if there’s still room” candidates.”

I’ve said this here before, and while this seems more and more likely each day my mailbox is empty, I still can’t see why we wouldn’t have just gotten waitlisted a while ago.

I know Eric. Like I said, this is just my guess. Trying to make sense out of frustrating month-long wait.

I’ve inquired about “tiers”, or if there was any correlation between date of acceptance and quality of student. No one will tell me.

I stand corrected: Here was the info from the Transfer admissions blog 4 months ago:

“Thanks for your question. We actually intend to enroll approximately 210 new transfer students this fall, which is slightly more than in the past two years.”

Does anyone know if you have to send in the reply form saying you don’t want to attend or if you don’t have to send it…

Did anyone who was waitlisted hear back yet?

dont lose hope yet guys lol someone might be taking my place next week

Wow, I’m surprised Lelouch. What happened? And I would say you should always send the reply form so things are official. And Millionth, where are you going? Sorry for posting so much today, guys.

I still haven’t heard back. Is anyone else still waiting??

I might be taking up the offer at NYU for Economics and Math

@NewtoCollege, unfortunately I didn’t receive any aid because apparently my family can afford Vandy although I don’t know how. Probably have to dip into certain assets to pay for Vandy, but my parents don’t want to do that. O.o Thus, I’m not going since it’s too expensive. Nonetheless, I’m happy and honored to have been accepted. I’m probably just going to transfer to my state’s flagship campus, and maybe I’ll think about transferring again. But I highly doubt it. So this might be the end for me until med school.

Hi!

I applied to transfer with average stats (actual average stats, not like a 4.2 gpa and 36 on my act). I found out today I was put on the wait list. Anyone have any information regarding the wait list that may be helpful?

What are your stats? I love fellow average applicants!
