@LACNoMore @CaptTShannan did either of you specify which school you applied to when you asked?

@Celtic02

No, I guess not. Maybe that’s some underlying factor.

@erin11 i agree that they did not have a lot of applicants since they extended the deadline by so much. but i imagine we will know within the next 2 weeks, especially if you got it in by the original deadline of march 15

i just am in a different situation too since i already have done 2 years so, depending on credits, i would be going in as a junior. so i really need to figure things out asap.

@CaptTShannan yeah, maybe, or maybe they were just saying those dates to be safe or something. Either way, I think the information we have now tells us that they can come any day, really, haha.

Yeah, I’m hoping for this week. It would be nice if there really were less applicants.

@TransferGirlSoph I believe there are a number of us transferring in as juniors.

@TransferGirlSoph

Yeah, I’m not exactly sure how transferring as a junior changes things.

it’s more competitive as the class is more filled.

the freshman application number went down, and along with it the regular decision acceptance rate went 2% higher. If freshman applicants correlate with transfer, there were probably less transfer apps meaning that the acceptance rate would be higher. However, the extended priority deadline is still a week away, meaning that people could still be applying and the numbers will increase

Last year 1424 applied and 430 were accepted. So let’s just say that probably around 1300-1400 will be applying.

@TransferGirlSoph Where are you getting that information? I’d think that is is pretty even as most people transfer their junior year, meaning more spots and more applicants, and then less spots and less applicants for sophomores.

@Celtic02 @TransferGirlSoph Also, I read somewhere that around 5-10% of people transfer annually from Vanderbilt, presumably about half from upcoming sophomores and upcoming juniors. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s more competitive for incoming juniors. It would appear to have about the same amount of difficult for each grade.

@CaptTShannan if there were around 1300-1400 applicants then I don’t think it would’ve warranted an extension of the deadline. If it were like less than 1000 then sure, but I honestly think the number of applicants is considerably lower this year

I guess it could be that. I was just going worst case scenario (the scenario where they say the reason they extended the deadline was because of CommonApp difficulties only and not because of the low number of applicants) and that they’re still expecting around the same number of applicants. But let’s just hope for a lot less! Hahah @Juvenis

So if we do hear back from Vanderbilt and we haven’t heard back from another school yet, can we ask for an extension on the date we have to commit by? I didn’t realize you only had 2 weeks! Now I’m hoping I get mine later rather than sooner cuz these decisions are coming out SO soon compared to other schools…

I have the same problem @gabby1994 but a lot depends on financial aid. If Vanderbilt gives you a full ride wouldn’t you forget about the other schools? I also have heard from a lot of people that they normally give you an extension if you call.

@galapin26 But you’re assuming that she won’t get a full-ride to another school, or that Vanderbilt is her top-choice. For me, I would definitely take a full-ride to Vanderbilt over any other school. But lots of other factors other than financial aid can ultimately push her to choose another school over Vandy.

I CALLED! According to admissions, transfer admission HAS started (which obviously we know at this point) and decisions are sent out on a weekly basis every Friday. So now the weekly countdown to Fridays begins…

You’re right @CaptTShannan, that’s why I said that calling for an extension is an option.

Friday is going to be a nerve-racking day! @jfcampos
