Congratulations @CaptTShannan! I was rooting for you too. Also, your correct that Vanderbilt requires the FASFA as well as the CSS profile.
Best of luck to you at Vandy!

@Momthreeboys and everyone else,

Thanks for the kind words It truly and honestly means a lot.

@CaptTShannan I knew you could do it Congrats, man. You truly deserve it.

Just received my email telling me I could view my decision tomorrow…guess it came just a bit late ;)

Accepted! Very excited right now.

Stats:
Applied to School of Engineering, Computer Science Major
High School:
GPA: 3.53
SAT: 2350 M:770 R:800 W:780
Subject Tests: Bio: 730 Math:720

Transferring from Bucknell University
College GPA: 3.91

of Recommendations: 2

Both from College Professors. One was an english professor who loved me(Only student to get an A in the class), the other was from my calculus professor who I believe merely liked me.

This feels like redemption. I applied to 22 schools last year, got rejected from all but five or 6. I got rejected from every school in the university of California system except for Santa Cruz. They couldn’t see past my GPA, which I guess is understandable. But now, I have finally achieved my goal. Don’t give up guys. Just don’t do it. This time last year, everything seemed pretty bleak. But it will get better.

Dang so if I turn it now will I still be able to get a financial aid package?

Accepted to the School of Engineering as a junior transfer (as in currently a sophomore).

High school stats:
GPA: 4.4ish W/3.9ish UW
ACT: 32 highest, 33 superscore
SAT: N/A
Extracurriculars: nothing too big of note except I interned at a rehabilitation hospital over the summer junior year and graduated one semester early to work at the same place full time. I had to drop almost all my other activities sophomore year because my father had a stroke that paralyzed him.

College (top 40 U.S. News):
GPA: 4.0
Extracurriculars: Academic Integrity Board, peer tutoring, research position, work study job, Habitat for Humanity, various chair positions in Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, our school’s honors service fraternity, and intramural football/volleyball/softball. Also intern at same rehabilitation hospital over the summers.

Not 100% sure if I want to go here. Still waiting for other offers but it does feel nice to be accepted to a school of this caliber. Congrats to all that got in and good luck to all those still waiting.

Accepted!!! Probably going to Cornell, but it’s nice to hear back from Vandy! Congrats everyone!

Hooks: I think I had a really good essay and showed a clear interest for Vanderbilt. I also had 4 letters of recommendation, two from college professors and two from high school teachers. I think that they were probably pretty good.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you are a future transfer applicant and you want someone to give you advice, read your essay, look over your application, anything - message me on here and it will send me an email and I will help you in anyway I can. :)

Congrats to everyone who has gotten accepted, good luck to ones still waiting, and don’t worry to the waitlisted applicants. To the ones that have been rejected: you are going to do phenomenally wherever you end up You are not defined by this application :)

Thanks to everyone for the support, encouragement, and kind words over the last couple of months. It’s been a ride, but it’s been fun :)

Accepted!!

@ButlerUSNA I hope so…I’m in the same situation

Did everyone receive emails notifying you were to receive a decision? Still haven’t gotten mine yet :(

@CaptTShannan Do you know if transfer students room with other transfers, new freshmen, or current students?

@Celtic02 I believe with other transfers!

@TransferFall14 nothing for me either

Still nothing. :(

Was rejected to one of my matches recently (though they were need-aware and I had a low-ish efc), so i’m worried about this. Going to try to stay positive about it though. :)

@Prospects80 if you don’t mind me asking, where we’re you rejected from? I’m sure you still have a chance!

@TransferGirlSoph Oberlin…

Also, it may not have helped that it definitely wasn’t my top choice and didn’t write a terribly good essay. (was accepted into Michigan and a few local schools though, thank god, so I know I have places to go)

And thanks! I’m hoping for the best. :)

For those wanting reference stats:

Accepted as an incoming junior transfer to the College of Arts and Sciences as a Neuroscience and Chemistry major.

High School:

LOTS of EC: varsity athletics, lots of work, oversees volunteer work, founding and leading clubs throughout HS and college.

College:
3.91 GPA (roughly 60 hours)
Two letters of rec from close professors.
I’m not the greatest writer, but I personally thought my essay was alright.
National Championship collegiate athlete!

For those of you still waiting, if Vanderbilt is your dream, don’t give up! I got wait listed as both a high school senior and as a college freshman transfer. Third time was charm, but seriously, don’t give up. Everything will work out regardless of where you receive your education. Stay positive and work your tail off!

jaspebra001, always happy to hear that someone who really digs Vanderbilt will be able to call it his or her alma mater. Nice job staying highly focused in high school in college…that didn’t hurt, did it? best wishes for your path at Vanderbilt. enjoy.
