Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

Today. I was glad my app was marked as complete by the priority deadline.

I know, I was excited too. What are your stats @Otemachi?

I have everything in besides the registrar report, which should be at Vanderbilt pretty soon (at least according to my current college). Will I still get the priority deadline if my report comes in a few days late?

@MDog795, when I was doing my CSS Profile and FAFSA, I called because I was going to be 1-2 days late doing them because my parents had an appointment with their accountant the day they were do and I asked if it would be alright to wait a day and get them done in one go instead of having to go back later and correct them. The admissions office told me that as long as I was within a few days of the priority deadline, I would be fine. So I bet you’ll be fine too!

Also, what are your stats?

Not to sound repetitive, I just think they’re all interesting lol.

3.4 from a top 20 university (upward trend, 4.0 last semester)
2180 SAT, 32 ACT (33 superscored but Vandy doesn’t do that)
Really hoping I get in, I’ve always wanted to go to Vanderbilt. My GPA’s low, but the fact that I’m coming from a really good school might help me.

Nice! Yeah, those are some good stats! What college are you wanting to transfer from?

My STATS

currently a freshman at a top 40 university (international student)
College GPA 4.0 thus far (19 credits completed, 20 credits in progress)
HS GPA 3.85 UW My HS in the U.S. doesn’t offer AP/Honors classes, and the school is weak academic wise. From what I can tell, I am the first student that applied to colleges that use the Common Application. I was the salutatorian of my graduating class, and the graduation speaker.

All A’s senior year with the hardest schedule possible (which was still not rigorous AT ALL given the school offerings)

SAT 1430 CR+W
ACT 31 (ENGLISH 33 MATH 34 READING 31 SCIENCE 27)
IELTS 8.5
SAT2 MATH LEVEL 2 800

2 recommendations from college profs.

HS EC’s were above average. A few leadership roles. A few awards in school/regional/national competitions. A few internship experiences post HS graduation. National honor society and things

Average EC’s in college. a few clubs

Dean’s list Fall 2013

Seriously though, none of my credentials make me stand out. T.T and I am pretty much expecting a rejection. I am just glad that we don’t have to go through the hassle of checking our mail boxes obsessively in April or May as myAPP VU allows us to check the status online.

Good luck to y’all. If our apps are complete by the deadline, we are likely in the first few batches of decisions, correct?

Also, the admissions representative whom I talked to over the phone said ALL materials have to be received by March 15th to meet the priority deadline.

However, I was told that there is really no such thing as priority review. March 15 is really just like a general guideline. Those applicants whose apps are completed later may be at a disadvantage because they review apps in the order that they receive them.

Wait, so we will be able to see the status of our application on MyAppVu before we get our acceptance letter in the mail?

I am not 100% sure, but in the email which confirmed the receipt of my transfer application and contained instructions on setting up the MyAPP VU account, it says that MyApp VU allows you to “view your admission decision” . You should have received the same email (if you have submitted your application)

Also in my post above , I meant my CR+M is 1430. Sorry.

Cool! Okay, yeah. I got that email, I just didn’t remember that part. Well, that’s just nifty.

This whole process SUCKS.

I have to keep track of my letters of recommendation by emailing all my professors and making sure that they sent them properly. A few days ago they told me that CA had a technical glitch in submitting the letters online, so I had to first ask all my schools to give me permission to have them emailed instead. After hearing back from all of them, I had to give all my teachers a list of emails to send their letters. Then I have to check on each school AGAIN to see whether they were received. As for Vandy, I have to ask my counselor if she can hold onto the letter since I don’t have an official file to put those letters in since I didn’t submit my application yet. I should probably do that soon.

And I REALLY wish Vandy had some “Why X” essay. I’m revising my current one to try to tailor it to Vandy, but it all sounds so tacky. I’m thinking about just sticking to my generic one and hoping they won’t count it against me.

DONE. Sent in my application and stuck to a generic CA essay, and if they want specific, I’ll just ask my regional counselor.

Btw @Otemachi, how long did it take for you to receive the MyAPP VU email after submission?

@Juvenis, it took them like one maybe two days to get the MyAppVu information to me. So expect it either tomorrow or Monday!

Ahh, first round of decisions will come out in just over a month!

Do you have to complete a CSS and FAFSA for your application to be complete?

No, I don’t believe so. But priority deadline for those was last month.

I received an email about 24 hours after the submission of my application.

Okay thanks. I just hope I’m still considered on-time for the priority decision. I have my recs and transcripts sent; I just hope my counselor remembers they’ve arrived and are waiting to be filed.

Btw, does anyone know when to send in IDOC stuff? The February deadline was for FAFSA and CSS, but I don’t think they said anything specific about IDOC.

I actually don’t know what IDOC is, so…
