How many people got in ea? Does anyone know the statistic?
“Don’t despair those that didn’t get in EA. They received 8,600 EA apps in 2014 (a record number at the time), 9,400 last year, and over 11,000 this year. Stay strong for RD and good luck.”
Good point. Just remember that VU admitted nearly 8,000 kids last year, given their historically low yield, so there are plenty of spots still available.
@bsangs I’m curious where did you get the stats of 11k ea applicants this year?
@alli3fire - My son’s school’s Villanova rep.
Jenny,i have invited you in my wechat, can you accept it? thanks. marian
There were 11,328 EA applications to be exact
@gdad101 - There you go. (As a humorous aside, there were 1,800 students TOTAL at my University back when I graduated in 1992.)
My daughter was accepted with the following stats:
1350 SAT, 30 ACT
96.7 GPA
Class Rank: 2/237
Health Career/Shadowing Program this year as senior
Of those 11,000 applicants does anyone know how many of them were accepted?
Applied to CLAS – Deferred
Stats:
I go to a college prep school in Texas
SAT: n/a
ACT: 33
GPA: School does not provide GPA & we have an alternate grading system/no AP classes so I’m clueless as to what my GPA would be
Extracurriculars: Good but nothing amazing- showed a very strong commitment to volleyball (club and school), own a volleyball-themed instagram account w/ 100K+ followers, National Charity League etc.
Essay: It was well-written and fit Villanova’s dedication to community service but it wasn’t anything unique.
Overall, I’m not upset. Last week I was rejected by Boston College and deferred by Fordham, both of which I was not expecting at all, so coming out of that I’m fine with this decision (especially considering the big increase in applications this year).
daughter was deferred from VSB. 2130 old SAT, 4.0+ Weighted GPA. Leadership in Orchestra, thin otherwise in ECA, volunteering. Good work experience though. Disappointing, but she was just below the level of SAT they were letting in from the responses I see her. Chances for RD seem reasonably good.
DEFERRED
Major: business
GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1280 (out of 1600)
Amount of AP classes: 3
No leadership roles but I have volunteering.
Why I think I got deferred instead of rejected: I speak 4 languages and lived abroad twice. Also did high school study abroad for an entire year by myself.
And also I did a business internship in financial district of NYC.
@hotpot1 I’m sorry but I don’t see any friend request. What’s your username? I’ll just add you. Thanks!

Did anyone receive any merit scholarships? Or does anyone know when those will be released?
Their website says that depending on the specific award, it will be between Jan-April. Here is the link. Best of luck to you! My son is waiting and hoping as well.

@collegemomjam Thanks for the encouragement. I do think this year the vast majority of the defers will be effectively rejections.
According to the common data set of 2015-2016, Nova has a hard time giving a firm no. They offered 4807 applicants wait list spots and ended up taking 50. Putting it in perspective Nova had 16,206 applicants and made 7761 offers of admission leaving 8445 applicants without an offer. The 4807 on the waitlist offers represents 57% of the nos.
Nova did not release EA stats in its 2015-2016 common data set.
A little late but accepted to VSB!
2110 old SAT (1410 combined reading and math)
98.3 weighted average, 95 unweighted (school doesn’t use 4.0 scale but GPA would be around 4.0 or above)
Rank top 10% at a competitive public high school in NY
Great essay that I am the most proud of out of all my apps and good personal statement
8 AP classes including senior year
Strong recommendation letters
Good Extracurriculars and founded an FBLA chapter
Three Sport varsity athlete
Mother and Grandfather went to school
White upper middle class male
Accepted to CLAS! 4.2 W GPA, 32 ACT. SO excited to be in!! Go nova:)
