So I was invited for an official visit but I just don't know what to expect. Does anyone have first hand experiences with official visits? I am pretty shy, so would it ever be awkward?
Thanks

Prior to arriving on campus, the coach will send you an itinerary for the weekend with things like, “academic presentation from 10:00 – 12:00″, and “free time with host”. All you really know is that you’re getting whisked off with a sleeping bag and a backpack and you’ll be shaking hands with about 300 different people and walking, lots and lots of walking around campus.

You’ll stay with somebody on the team, attend some classes, maybe go to a football game on Saturday and go out to some social function on Saturday night. You’ll meet a lot of your (potential) future teammates and coaches. Don’t worry about being shy or socially awkward, trust me, that type of person is much more welcome by the team than the high school hotshot with an attitude. Try to relax and enjoy.

agree with Varska - be humble. Also remember you are recruiting them as well. Take the time to look around and see if this is place you could se yourself at for 4 years. My S went on 3 OV’s and on 2 of them he loved the place and his potential future teamates, but at 1, he texted me at 11:30pm - i knew then he was not going to that school
