If you know what their pattern is for transfer you will be in. My Teacher was telling me every year up until now a 2.6 GPA would get you in (at least for my major) if you followed the pattern for transfer. They must have really upped their standards this year though because I got in with a 3.2. My buddy who has the exact same classes and credentials as me was wait listed. Only different is his GPA was 3.1. My parents seem to think one of the reasons I was accepted is because of my age. I’m 31. Been doing school on and off again for the past 12 years.

yeah. but if everybody is following the same class pattern for that specific major then comes the who gets chosen over who. anyway, congrats on the acceptance! have fun in slo (:

Thanks bud appreciate it, I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna be “the old guy” but we’ll see how it goes.

^^ wait, is this only for transfers, or also for freshmen?

All the info I gave is for transfers only.

wooo 31, how’d that work out?

[if you don’t mind me asking : ) ]

69stang: Your parents may be right. I recall having a conversation with a Poly career counselor when the topic of age came up randomly, she said that Poly had the youngest student body (average age) among California universities. I didn’t ask what her source was. Who knows… maybe the school wanted to bring some you “older” guys in to mix up the age and maturity pool a bit (???) haha.

I knew a guy who transferred in when he was 29 with a 3.2 GPA, mostly due to working full time and raising a kid. He was sharp and ended up graduating with honors.

I graduated High School in 97 and immediately started going to Community College. I was young and didn’t know what I wanted to do nor what I was doing. I ended up missing class a lot and dropping classes and not making much progress. Over the next few years I’d try to balance work and school but then finally I stopped going to school and worked full time. I didn’t like where that was taking me so I decided I needed to go back and finish school. I got it all figured out, I’m graduating with a double AA next month, I applied to Cal Poly and here I am lol!

Cal Poly is a much sought after school. It’s not easy to get into. Everyone wants to go there and rightfully so. The “hands-on” approach to learning helps to make a student employable upon graduation. Congratulations to those who were lucky, and Good Luck to those who are on the wait list.
