I decided to make this thread since I didn’t see one. Any one who got waitlisted by W&L, please post your discussions/thoughts/comments here. I got wait listed as well and I’m hoping to get off it. Main Questions:
- Any ideas when they start taking people off the waiting list?
- What can you do to increase your chances of getting accepted
- Do waitlisted students get financial aid/grants?
- What are the chances of getting accepted?
My D is giving up her spot. Initially loved the school and almost applied ED. The relationship has cooled and it has fallen on her list.
Typically WL takes quite a few off the wait list. Half or slightly more of the class is accepted ED. They get another 100 or so acceptances from RD but then have to dig into the wait list for varying numbers.
A good school and I wish you the best.
@uditjain I was wondering the same thing about financial aid. My nephew emailed his W&L admissions counselor about it but has not heard back. I’ll let you know if he hears anything in relation to financial aid for wait list students.
has anyone heard from the WL yet??
in past years they have taken people off in mid April and all the way up until July. I want to call admissions and ask if they’ve started taking people off but I’m kinda scared lol
but I’ve read past threads and sometimes they’ll send emails telling you to check your portal (the day of the week or time of the month those emails have gone out are not consistent), and the portal will either tell you that you’re off the waitlist, or it will ask if you’re still interested in remaining on it. I realllyyyy want to get off the waitlist and hope that i do – and before i have to put a deposit elsewhere would be even better
@uditjain the students with the highest chances of getting off the list are ones who show a lot of interest by emailing the school, do not require aid, and “fit” into the spots that W&L is trying to fill. They have a good amount of the class but will look for unique people to pull off the list, I’d guess
No I still haven’t heard back. I spoke to the soccer coach because I will most likely be playing on the team and he said that admissions will try its best to get back by May 1st but they haven’t decided exactly when the WL decisions will be released.
I’ve heard the yield has improved quite significantly this year. I wouldn’t expect any waitlist offers before May 1st, and far less offers overall than in previous years.
I really hope its before may 1
Where did she choose instead?
@uditjain are you a prospective athlete that’s also on the wait list?
@Emsmom1 Yes I am! I visited the campus, spoke with admissions, the soccer coaches and stayed overnight with a player. I loved the visit and was really confident that I’d get in because I am a recruit. So i was really surprised when I was waitlisted. Anyways, I am just hoping I get off the waitlist. Are you a prospective athlete as well??
uditjain-my nephew was recruited as well, spent the night with a player, met the coaches and was also really surprised when he was waitlisted. Odd, but I guess coaches don’t have much pull at the DIII level?
@syrupandpancakes Congrats! Can you share your stats?
@Emsmom1 I am guessing that’s the case. Anyone hear back yet?
They called me and took me off the waitlist on Thursday!!
