So, I applied to transfer to CC and got waitlisted. Anyone have any experience with that (i.e. when I find out, wether it's more or less unlikely than the regular waitlist)? It's not a big deal, I guess I'm just kind of curious.

"The odds aren't great for the summer waitlist. They're worse than getting in to begin with. I would think..."

well, that would make sense...I think everyone would agree that your best shot at getting into these kind of schools would be the first shot, during the regular admissions process, not the drag-you-along-a-string admissions extension

today my guidance counselor told me that alot of people close to 50 were accepted off waitlists at princeton and yale respectivly. Hopefully we will see some movement here at columbia. Someone had to get accepted to both schools.

I don't think that CU has a lot of cross-admits with Princeton. Yale maybe.

CC has the lowest admit rate of the Ivy League this year. And after last year's incredibly high yield (only 6 were accepted off the waitlist) one has to start giving up hope.

The other day a kid on the '11 facebook group announced that he'd just turned down a waitlist acceptance from Harvard.

I think that they allow for a few deferrals every year. I don't think that would open a spot. And I think you had to defer by like tomorrow...So if no one's heard...

Are you still on the Columbia College Wait List?
Do you know anyone else who is still on the CC extended waitlist?
Do you live in socal?
Did "purplecroissant" get off the Columbia College Wait List for the class of 2011?
I haven't heard of anyone getting off the list to date other than purplecroissant, but I'm not sure if she was on the CC or the SEAS wait list.

My best friend is on the CC extended waitlist and our university counselor has been in touch with the admissions office. This is what she wrote in her latest email to my friend:

*... things aren’t looking hopeful at Columbia. Alec just told me that they plan to close their waitlist at the end of June and at this stage he doesn’t envision any more “movement.”

Obviously there is always hope, but based on my experience with their waitlist last year I’m not feeling it.*
