Official Waitlist Thread

NO ONE has gotten off the Columbia College waitlist. My friend is on the extended waitlist and our college counselor received similar communication.

If were calling my call to the Adcom a rumor, then this one is a rumor as well. Trolling failed.

After 1,500+ candid, easily traceable, sometimes-too-revealing posts, I can assure you that I'm not a troll. Aside from personal details (which I edited out), what I posted earlier is the full text of the email my friend showed me.

I didn't even apply to Columbia; the only reason I'm following these threads is for any indication that my best friend might be accepted.

I'm with cameliasinensis. It may very well be time to give up the ghost. If there hasn't been any movement by now, odds are there won't be. When the admit rate goes down and applications go up, you cannot expect waitlist spaces from the previous year to increase.

Is it awful and disappointing? Yes.

I disagree, they have a extended wait list for a reason.
Don't give up yet, we have waited this long. HOLD ON......
Let's see what happens by the end of next week.

They have an extended waitlist if someone dies. If Alec Milton doesn't expect any movement, I doubt they'll be any movement.

sorry guys im talking about s snack. Everyone else is cool.

What the hell are you talking about?

Well I thought I was pretty cool with you, but all of a sudden you started becoming my foil, making all these snide remarks (though not as bad as Mr. Dioxide). I was referring to your post #60. It wasnt too bad but it seemed like you were trying to burst my bubble.

Post #60 was just my opinion after reading the e-mail. Maybe I was helping you not get your hopes too high.
Giving up hope is the best option at this point in a way:
If you get in: Yay! Great surprise.
If you'd don't get in: Oh well...you didn't think it was gonna happen anyways.

But if you keep on thinking you're geting in:
If you get in: You knew it all along. No big deal.
If you don't: You're devastated.

So, in the classic Columbia manner, remain pessimistic.

S snack
"purplecroissant "was notified last Tuesday that she got off the CC wait list, so don't throw the towel in yet fellow wait list students.

I'm with s snack. One kid does not a good chance make. Yale has had to get upwards of 30 kids and they're STILL trying to fill spaces.

CU just isn't in the same boat. All of you probably have other great options. In two weeks they'll probably close the waitlist and let you go. Wouldn't it be better to ease into that idea?

No, qualities like perserverence and determination (naive or not) are ones I'm pretty sure are essential for an institution like this one.

This information might be useful to you: I know both purplecrossaint and a boy at my school who just got off the waitlist last week and were given until Tuesday to decide. They both ended up choosing Columbia. The boy at my school told me that only three people had gotten off the waitlist (I still can't get over the fact that I happened to know two of them). Assuming my friend was right about there only being three, that means that if the third person says no there's one more spot, but if they don't, it's full.

An utter lack of judgment is a pretty bad quality to have, though

Its worth it even if whatever dream you shoot for doesnt work out. Look at how much I've learned (or actually, I learned a lot).

hi bluetissues! ;)

at the same time, the class was full back when columbia announced their extended waitlist, and i guess now a few people are dropping out of the class for various reasons. so pray that some more columbia people get off other waitlists or decide to defer a year or something...!

Huh? What does this mean? You screwed up your college application process and, resultantly, are going to have to attend Rutgers.

Nevermind don't worry bout it.

Has anyone heard anything about any new extended wait list openings for CC?
