Now I want to be waitlisted

Me!! haha, I was surprised, my first waitlist! But that’s okay, I declined the waitlist seat right away.

does it matter when we waitlist cause i wanna call in on monday to see why i got waitlisted?

socalpilot, I got waitlisted and no supplement. I was very confused about that. 1920 SAT, 4.45/3.88 GPA, good extracurriculars with leadership positions, and solid essays. I figured that my SAT score hurt me the most, but I cannot believe that some of these phenomenal applicants on this thread were waitlisted.

how do you know how high you are on the waitlist???

4.2 and 2100…waitlisted.
Disappointing for sure. CAL rejection next!

In the past, UCLA excepts X amount and a certain percentage actually accept. The percentage of acceptances have been about the same each year but last year a higher percentage accepted resulting in too many students. This year I think they are accepting a smaller amount in case a higher percentage accept and waitlist the others. If a smaller percentage accept that opens the door for those on the waitlist.

Both my sons are at UCLA and love it. One is senior and the other is a sophomore.
It all works out regardless of where you attend college.

Wish you the best!

I got my admission decision yesterday and I don’t know how this happened. My SAT were by far the lowest of all you guys- 1710.
My Subject score were average- 640-700 ish
GPA- 4.27
I heard that UC’s give more preference to Essays, and doing something big.
Best of Luck.

With all respect to “essays” and doing something “big”, my D is a California State Scholar in the Arts in Creative Writing and won the Young Playwrights Competition. She wrote beautiful essays. And as for something big, she was one of the key organizers of one of the few high school TEDX Youth events in the world. She also was varsity softball 3 years and one of her school magazine editors for 2 years. That, with a 4.33 UC GPA, 5 “5’s” on her AP tests, National Merit Finalist and a 2310 single score. So, this “waitlist”…it completely baffles me. Those of you who did get in, well, you should count your lucky stars…

Waitlisted… 4.1 gpa and 1990 sat
i was expecting a rejection for sure, the opening paragraph of the decision letter really made it seem like a rejection haha so i guess i’m glad to be waitlisted:)

Does anyone know how many students are waitlisted?

Introverted,

What country are you from? A levels and miitary service sounds familiar. Singapore?

@IWantAn800 Does UCLA rank its waitlisted students? Well, if it does, the only way to find out your ranking is by contacting them (via email or phone).

@collegemom92

yup singapore!

This thread cracks me up. I haven’t done the math, but by pure speculation, it seems to me that the average stats for those put on the waitlist are higher than the averages of those who were accepted (not big enough sample I know, but still funny).

On a separate note, does anyone know how many were accepted?

@introverted
