Wake Forest was definitely one of my top choices, and I’ve already been rejected from a few schools, so this was really nice news. I think Wake has a lot to offer me, but finances will definitely be a factor. Fingers crossed.

Accepted from Albany, NY. 28-ACT. 4.1 out of 4.3 GPA. 3 of 5 AP offered at my school. 3 of 3 SUNY UHS courses offered. Captain of volleyball and huge into service. Have yet to commit, but it’s between here and Elon, but hopefully I get off the wait list at URichmond.

@thethreeLs: Merit scholarships at Wake are few and far-between and are not offered to Regular Decision applicants. Or did you mean need-based scholarships?

@collegechica - is that true that only ED applicants are considered for merit based scholarships? I know that they had their scholarship weekend quite a while ago but I thought all RD applicants were considered as well. Is that not the case?

My son was accepted- 2000 SATs, 6 APs, tons of service, editor of paper, etc. He said his interviewer was intense, asked difficult questions but he thought it went well. He is thrilled and it is one of his top choices.

Accepted

Interview- Didn’t do

accepted 2200 sat / 33 act I am a little bit worried after reading all the negative student reviews. I love the location and reputation , it has the classes I want but I don’t know anyone who has attended. Not really a partier or drinker, any insight?

Dogears, please don’t let the opinion of a few unhappy posters influence your impression of WFU. If you haven’t already, make sure you visit the campus. Meet some students and ask them lots of questions. I think that in my many years of touring colleges with my kids that the best source of information is from the students. It has been my experience that current students are more than willing to answer your questions and they usually give honest answers, pros and cons. One of my favorite questions to ask was " if you could change one thing about XXX, what would it be?". I have never had one person tell me " oh nothing XXX is just perfect!". I currently have a son who attends Wake. He loves it but he could certainly come up with a list of good and bad. Leading the list on the bad right now would be the fact that they just took away a bunch of parking spaces and it is a hassle to park a car. Ironically my son lives on campus without a car! I will tell you that the negative experiences detailed in some posts describes a WFU that is very different from the school that I know from my son and my many experiences visiting campus. I have always found the students to be very warm and friendly. Hopefully you have visited. There are so many positive posts about Wake, I hope you go back and read them. Don’t you find it ironic that a few malcontents go and post their grievances right as decision time rolls around? go to an accepted students day and see for yourself.

In regards to the unhappy posts: as the mom of two very happy WF undergrads ( one graduating this year) let me say those posts have way more to do with the poster than with WF. This college has been a blessing to our children and I would recommend it to anyone. It is not perfect but its darn good.

International student

If you are an international student like @WimpyKid and myself that would be cool to contact me. Congrats to everyone and see you next year :)

@Dogears: People like to use message boards as an outlet for their anger and complaints. Please visit if you like Wake! There are unhappy people at every school; don’t let them rain on your parade.

That being said, no school is perfect and there are perfectly acceptable criticisms of every school on every board.

@ frstudent, I’m an international student who has been accepted! Have you received a financial aid/scholarship package at all? Or, do you know if international students will receive one?!
