Official Washington and Lee ED I 2014 Thread!

yeah the coach called me

well congrats once again! i hope I will be joining you next year… I’ll find out on saturday I guessss…

so as i imagine that all of you will find out today, i wish you guys the best of luck.
I got deferred today…but, it is better then flat out rejection.

once again, good luck to all of you.

ooh im so sorry! what did the letter say?

"The Admissions Committee of Washington and Lee University has given careful consideration to your application for Early Decision admission. At this time the Committee cannot assure you of a place in next fall’s enrolling class and is deferring your application to be evaluated during Regular Decision review period.

While this does not necessarily mean you will be ultimately denied admission to Washington and Lee, I do anticipate that competition for the remaining places in our freshman class will be even more rigorous than it was during the Early Decision review. The difficult reality of our decision-making each year is that we receive more applications from well-qualified students than we have room to admit. The keen competition you face for admission to W&L leads me to urge you to submit applications to other colleges in which you have sincere interest.

TO ensure that your application continues to receive every possible consideration, please have your college counselor send us your mid-year grades as soon as they become available. Also, please arrange to have any additional standardized test results sent directly to us from the testing agency. Following a further review of your candidacy, you will hear from us in early April regarding the final decision on your application.

I regret that we are unable to offer you early admission to Washington and Lee."

So my question is, do you think it is appropriate to send them a letter citing my intent to attend if I am admitted RD? Or is that too much.

I suppose the only thing left to do is ace my exams.

no that would probably be a good thing… i have a question though… where do you live?

i live in westchester NY

ooh okay wow yeah then I’m definitely getting my letter today…

yeah…so we are pretty close geographically i would imagine…i got my mail right when i woke up, so it was a pretty sudden and unexpected. best of luck.

pretty close indeed. I’m sorry again… in a couple of hours maybe we can console eachother

well I certainly hope we don’t have to do that.

Its funny, because when I got my letter, I went online, and the first thing I saw on facebook was one of my friends post a picture of his acceptance letter to W&L…I groaned.

thanks man… ouch that sucks im sorry

Mail came here, but no letter. Another 48 hours of waiting…ugh.

i was deferred good luck to those who havent gotten their letter yet

I got accepted!!!

sorry to those of you not so fortunate

didn’t get a letter today. guess I’ll know Monday… congrats to those of you who got in and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for everyone who got deferred or doesn’t know yet.

I am in texas and haven’t recieved my letter yet. guess I should get it tomorrow

ACCEPTED in Missouri!!! So happy. Envelope has 2 sheets…one white and one orange.
Good luck to everyone.

i got accepted today. good luck to everyone who was deferred-- i’ll keep my fingers crossed for you.

congrats! thanks, but I think I’m going to set my sights on other schools now, for one the letter was not very comforting and seemed to imply that I would not have a good chance of getting in, and two I’m not going to sit around wishing that I would have gotten in. They missed out on their chance of having me at their school. As far as I’m concerned, it was their loss.
