I was wondering if you would do me a favor and post your stats here. This is copied and pasted from the Penn ED results. I just want to see if I have the credentials to stand a decent chance at WashU applying RD. In addition, I believe these threads are more helpful than chance threads. Thank you.

[ /list][ b]Other Factors (weaknesses, strengths, etc.): Looking at my stats you will probably wonder how I get accepted. I have a low GPA for a school of this caliber and no AP classes. However after 2 years of hs I transferred. I had honors classes from my previous school but they did not transfer over and since I decided to transfer so late (a week before Jr year started) I was declared "not eligible" to take any of their ap/honors classes. Sr year I wasn't allowed for ap because since my previous school was "behind" on their curriculum I had to complete certain classes(taking 2 classes normally meant for sophomores) The biggest factor for me was all in my essays. I did the common app and choice the biggest risk I've ever taken. Naturally, I picked my decision to transfer and everything that was entitled with it and explained every minor detail about my transcript. Another "help" is that I'm going to play football at Wash. I only went to my current school 2 years and have won many awards (all conference, academic all state, all area, team leader both years in tackles, team captain). So in August I searched for schools with good academics I could play football at (I'm too small for d1). I showed great enthusiasm to join the Wash U community by contacting the coaches multiple times and calling admissions to offer insight on everything I needed to hopefully get accepted. I applied ED and took a few campus visits as well to meet with the professors, coaches, and counselors. Just let them know how enthusiastic you are in attending Wash U and work HARD on those essays. The grades/test scores are always important too.

[ b]General Comments/Congratulations/etc:Congrats to all and I look forward to seeing you come August. For those deferred, hope all goes well for you. GO BEARS!

[] Essays: I worked hard on it and had teachers look over it. And I've been told I write well. But, I have no idea. It was kind of about my experience as a Chinese immigrant.
[] Optional Essay?(Y/N): N
[] Teacher Recs: I didn't read them but I assume pretty good. I had my history teacher write one.
[] Counselor Rec: Even in my giant school, I knew my counselor really well and she really adores me. She, isn't the best writer though. I didn't read the recommendation.
[] Supplemental Rec(s)?: I had a WUSTL professor write one.
[] Hook (if any): Portfolio perhaps? I also did the summer program at WashU and got As in my classes. I felt I became friends with my professors and asked Laura, my amazing painting instructor, if she could write a good recommendation for me. She did. She sent me a copy of the recommendation and it was written very well.
[li] Interview?: I felt it went super well. I interviewed with the associate Dean of Students. We had pretty great conversations. She seemed to really like my portfolio. She also said I had the "best questions she's ever had." She was with the people who looked over my application. And even though I felt my Junior year really tanked 2 Bs each semester and a C second semester, she got to see I was really devoted and ready for college.
[/li]

[/ul]Location/Person:[ul]
[] State or Country: Missouri
[] School Type: Large (2,000), and pretty low ranked. Last year, out of 500 graduated students no one went to an Ivie or pretty much anything. Two people did get into WUSTL though.

[] Financial Aid?(Y/N): Yes
[] Legacy Yes/No: No

Chinese School art teacher for one semester. Taught English in China for three class sessions when I was in China. A lot of volunteer service...etc etc.

[/ul]Other Factors (weaknesses, strengths, etc.): I felt my interest was the majour thing that got be accepted. My grades are pretty average, perhaps even below. My ACT score is average. There wasn't anything huge that could get be instantly rejected (perhaps my one C though?) so I think my interest, ECs, and Interview/Portfolio really helped.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: I still can't believe I was accepted. WUSTL is my favorite place ever.
