***OFFICIAL WashU Class of 2017 RD Decisions***

Real classy Bosox…you sound more than a Yankee fan.

Now that’s funny BigDog.

No hard feelings finalchild…hope your D gets in here and Michigan (if they ever release) and wherever else is a good fit for you guys.

Same here. Congrats to you all. Would have been thrilled if D had gotten in Wash U. Great, great school. And actually only reason I stop by here is because can’t stand waiting for something to happen with Michigan! And in one sense, bosox kid is right. This is now a party where I no longer belong. See you over in Wolverine land where can listen to folks tell us how wonderful UMich is.

We probably don’t belong at this party either, I think Michigan is going to be the choice. UMich is wonderful and who wants to go to school with bosox…

you two are very quick to judge people, and no im not from new england. How about instead of ranting on about why a post hurt your feelings, you just talk about Wash U. Because no one here wants to see 20 posts about you two complaining about another’s post.

Good luck bosox. You seem more like a Georgetown guy.

I just want to give this issue a little closure and then I’ll leave the thread alone…
I am NOT a New England prep school kid, and I received a scholarship offer from Cal Poly SLO (one of the best engineering schools) today, which may very well complicate my decision a bit.
I think that WashU is a fabulous school. Period. I would have been thrilled to go there. Period. I am not and never meant to diss the school or any of you lucky admits. It’s a tough school. It’s a great school. It has a delightfully unique academic culture and the people seemed very friendly.
I am very thankful for my likely letters, but found it odd that I was in two Ivies’ top 100 applicants, but didn’t make the accepted list at WashU. I was also shocked when I did receive my likelies because I didn’t feel worthy of them. To be honest, I will have the same “lulz” reaction if (when) I get rejected from MIT on Thursday and Stanford in a few weeks. I am soooooo lucky to have such amazing back up schools that I don’t have to be upset about being waitlisted at another amazing school. The “lulz” was more about the water rolling off my back that a jab at WashU or its wonderful students. Honestly, I wasn’t upset about being waitlisted, and I am genuinely happy for those that got a “congratulations” last weekend.
What I am saying is that, although I would have been uber happy there, I didn’t get into WashU, but I’m not upset. I am sooooo happy for those who will spend the next four years in St. Louis or who will have to decide between WashU and other fabulous schools. I am sorry if I ever offended anyone, and definitely didn’t mean to say that WashingtonU is an easy school or anything of that nature.
That being said, I don’t feel that it’s fair that you all judged me so quickly and so harshly. But hey, that’s just my opinion.
@finalchild. Thanks for moderating this debate!
Peace out, future Bears, the thread is all yours again.
(I won’t be checking WashU’s section on this site anymore, as it’s no longer of any of my business, so say whatever/judge me however you want…I won’t see it.)

One more thing…
Where I’m from/in my group of friends “lulz” has it’s own special meaning. Hard to describe, but a little bit disappointed, a little bit confusing, and just a tiny bit humorous. i.e. Fail a physics test that you studied like crazy for but it doesn’t affect your grade too much: lulz. It’s not like I was literally laughing out loud about being waitlisted…
That is all. Live long and prosper.

do3es anyone know when we hear from the financial aid office?

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: I keep seeing a lot about “demonstrated interest,” and to be honest I was expecting to get waitlisted for the same reason. The only effort I bothered to make regarding Wustl was 1) to ask if I could switch a class to another TA and 2) to update them on NMF status. Both emails got direct responses from my admissions officer. It seemed like they were excited that I was just “keeping them in the loop” as they said, so perhaps that counts as demonstrated interest?
[] Weaknesses: SATs (extremely low CR), not much volunteering
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I sent two emails
[li] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: waiting to hear back from my 10 other schools[/li][/ul]General Comments: If you’re a prospective student for future years and you are taking time out of your day to go through multiple pages of admitted Wustl students’ posts, then I’m sure you will have the time to send an email or two (maybe even a call) to Wustl’s admissions office/officer and let them know about updates to your application. When these “sub-15” schools have supposed “tufts syndrome” any little thing you do will set you apart from the rest. That’s just my opinion anyway- I may be entirely wrong, and in the not unlikely situation that is true, disregard what I just said and work hard on your essays.
**TL;DR: SEND EMAILS TO WUSTL TO SHOW DEMONSTRATED INTEREST **

Are you the frank w who is on the secretariat for mun? If you are, I would definitely call that more than just a regular leadership position. I bet it helped a ton on your application.

Accepted to Olin (Anyone trekking out there for Olin spotlight?)

I’m not going to bother with the other stuff because I can sum up my app pretty quickly.

Gpa:3.92
National merit finalist
SAT: 2210
ACT:34
SATIIs: not sent (godawful)
Extracurrics: mock trial, con law, mun, 3 year varsity soccer starter, and chess
Essay: Very good, maybe strongest point
AP: calc ab (5), chem (3), euro (5), apus (5)
Contact made: Never sent an email, made a phone call, or had an interview
Suggestions: since WashU has no supplement, it’s all about the essay and having ec’s that link to your school of choice
