[]Advice? Commiserations? Feel like bragging?: Make full use of your college counselor(s). I am lucky enough to go to a fairly small school, where the counselors are often available and able to forge good relations with students, and my counselor has been great for advice and emotional support. Look at the CC forum for your Early Decision Applicant Class, if there is one. I didn’t post in mine at all, and I know this sounds silly, but really just seeing that other people were going through the same stress that I was experiencing helped keep me sane. And always keep in mind that there are SO MANY great schools out there, and not getting into one doesn’t mean that you can’t still learn and have a great time at others. [/ul]

[/ul]Reflection[list]

[] Strengths:Science research program very strong- took college course last summer at UNC Chapel Hill while working with my mentor who is a professor at UNC
[] What you tried to focus on in your application - any hooks you tried to make for yourself:I used my athletic ability to ask to be recruited
[] Weaknesses:Not a lot of extracurriculars besides sports… but there was no time for them either
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:I toured the campus and met with the coach of my strongest sport and he was very interested. Had a 90 minute conversation and met some team members- he asked me to text him how my season progressed through high school and I did multiple times-I wrote both coaches a thank you note, wrote my interviewer and thank you note and also my admissions officer for my region- also, I took a college course at UNC and received an A last summer while doing science research with grad students
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Went ED so withdrew all other applications
[] Your “Big Red” factor - the most unique thing in your application:athletics
