Official Wednesday PSAT Discussion

we discussed this, but there was the one about the scholars being accepted or something.

hmm, do you mean that the women and her mom wanted to be "accepted as competent scholars"??? I seem to remember that being a choice.

nah, it was in the introduction. it wasn't related to the woman and her mom. the question was something about how earlier, historians looked to the people who lived in the region for interpretation of the history. but since they wanted to become _______, they strayed from that method.

OK, for question 21, I am positive the answer was not E becuase that would imply that the two authors had the same opinion about psychology... which they don't: they had conflicting viewpoints: one was a parapsychologist and the other one was someone who was attacking the perceived fallacies of parasychology. The choices were between B and C for me. I read that extremes and indifference are always wrong so I put B.

altf4: historical books was right... stop panicking it seems like you're doing OK!

sry guys, I am tryin to read 28 pgs all at once, so now i have like 3 comments one after another. Last thing: this was discussed already but the one about "to gather" in the writing section (aerial photography) I thought that it sounded awfully funny myself, but then again it seemed gramatically correct... oh geez, someone tell me that im not wrong on that one. i spent the last ten minutes of the PSAT arguing with myself over C and E

sw, its not right because it requires the use of the gerund, for two infinitives in that layout would just not work.

it's basically impossible to remember writing, unless jrcho88 was here to SCAN IT.

Plz jrcho88 it would be great if you would scan it so we could discuss it without uncertainties. Besides, it won't have any significant effect on Saturday's test, lol.

yea, i guess it wouldn't make too much of a difference... and i would lov to know my score (I think...) :)

bumpity'

Hey for that squares problem i got 4 as the max because look:

*. . .

*=red, . = blue 0 = green!
tada!

I hate to spoil your fun Salty, but you have an odd number of blues. tada!

This forum is dying. Keep it alive.

does anyone remember a sc question about a meal at a restaurant. i wasnt so sure about that one, but i chose : sumptuous...meager. one of the other choices that i was considering had the word nonplussed in it. what did u guys choose for that one?

i have another question. what did you guys put for the graph with the circle on it and point (0,3). i put A: y=x

Both y=3x and y=x cut the circle into two semicircles so that the answer which had both of those but not the third one was right

the answer was sumptuous....meager.

In order for this thread to remain alive, jrcho88 needs to scan the test!!!

swbutterfly1, are getting mixed betweent the author of the passage or the author of the book within the passage? That makes a difference. The answer is (E)

For those of you who took the PSAT this Wednesday and used some sort of practice material OTHER THAN the CB's bulletin/practice test, could you state what book you used and whether or not you thought it prepared you for the PSAT enough?

MANY thanks!
