Official Wednesday PSAT Discussion

k..

another kinda hard one (at least for me) was the one about the black historian and her mom - what did u guys put for the one about the signifigance of her recalling who Mrs. Dubelle or sumthin was (that woman that died b4 the author was born)?

my school collected them...

I put the one about what the ppl community knew about others in the community or something, but I have no idea if that is right...

My school collected them too...

jrcho, would you mind stating some of the grid-in questions that have not been answered. My school also collected the booklets. Last year they were returned the booklets about a month or so after the debate.

which marble question...i dont remember it

Excuse me, I meant to say square question, not marble. -the one with red in column 1 and row 1, and even blue and green-find max green.

yea, ours got collected, damn

which ones would you like me to restate, I have the test booklet in front of me right now (Form W)

does anyone remember what the second to last one on the 2nd vocab section (sec. 3) was , and what they put for an answer..?

Any gridins which you have not seen discussed as of yet. We seem to have covered most but not all.

what was the last grid in question? word for word? thanks! :)

R R R R
R B B R
R B B B
R B G G

Row 1 is all the same color
Column 1 is all red. So row and column 1 all have to be red.

You need even # of greens and blues.
Greens cannot share side or vertex w/ red.

If you try adding more greens to the diagram above, the green has to touch a vertex or side of another red. So 2 is the answer.

jrcho, could you type out word for word the math grid-in about the colors of the squares. Thanks!

or at least what the last passage on the last vocab section was?

jrcho8, please restate the questions about the guy driving on the road passage

Section 3

A) feelings about the whole trip
B) uncertainty about social encounters
C) optimism about his new life
D) fear of having his suspicions confirmed
E) surprising reaction to a social situation

I think that one (38) was B) uncertainty about social encounters...watch, I bet I'm wrong!

altf4 the Chicago passage

The narrator would most likely characterize his experience driving from NY to chicago as
A) Dramatic
B) Transformative (This is what I put as the answer)
C) exhausting
D) treacherous
E) informative

The narrator's compulsion (line 3) is best described as
A) a long-standing obsession
B) a burdensome obligation
C) a sense of inevitability
D) an irresistible urge (my answer)
E) an incomprehensible delusion

etc....
