Official Wellesley Class of 2014 Decisions Thread

Part 2 Oh yes, and of course, math. Once I decided to apply to the four above mentioned colleges I realized that I needed to sign up for the SAT. I signed up and took it, once. Well, my scores are very average. All of those crazy dots! 730W, 670CR and a disastrous 500! in math. I have and 8 at school. I did not fill in all of those dots correctly! The math terminology in english apparently messed with my mind. Signed up online at midnight when a space became available for the SAT subject tests. Took then the next day. 800 Italian, 670 Lit, 730 Latin. (Are there really SAT camps? Seriously?) Anyway, one catastrophic score may determine my fate. I have studied piano for 9 years. Passed my music theory exams at the conservatory in Siena with 8.8. A perfect 10 in harmony.
This is not a sour grapes post. I am happy that so many of you are getting accepted to the colleges of your choice. This is simply a note to all and especially to anyone from admissions from any college to hopefully have a better understanding of a rigorous classical high school education in Florence, Italy. Our school is hysterically underfunded. It is the antithesis of Glee and all such programs. You sign up to learn, to graduate with a rennaisance education, that you have earned.
UNC just sent me a rejection letter. They are afraid that I would not be able keep up with the other incoming freshman. OK…

More than likely… I will recieve at this point three more such letters. I suppose it will be law school in Italy for me. So Tuscany I shall stay. Good luck to you all. By the way my mom is from NC. That is why I speak english.

^ Wow, pozzol. You have an interesting life story - mad props. I hope you get in!

Oh dear kiterunner that is just a watered down version. You have no idea. I am quite sure that the admissions board will glance at my scores and in the discard pile I’ll go.
I hope my essay will at least be read. I traveled to India alone, met up with friends. Then on my own again and had my documents stolen a true Chardybdis! Compared all of that too Ulysses (Dante) and Pirandello’s search for distinctiveness. All futile…I’m afraid.
Just snippets.

welles10- since you worked at the admissions office, do you know the likelihood of a “likely” getting in? is it basically 100%?

i never heard of a likely who didn’t get in…in other words, don’t be concerned. you’ll receive an acceptance letter pretty soon lol

Pozzol, I think you sound like a fantastic applicant for Wellesley. It is UNC’s loss that they did not accept you. Best of luck, and I hope you hear good news tonight (you received a likely letter? Then you will hear good news tonight).

Also, pozzol, you have to remember that it’s REALLY hard for OOS people to get into UNC. I bet it’s even tougher for internationals.

You all are much too kind. I did not receive a likely letter.

Rejected: Vassar.

Rejected. :frowning: International requiring lots of FA.

OMG I just got in Wellesley, rejected from Amherst though

Pozzol I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t get Vassar… But how did you find out? I understand that you are an international applicant after reading your interesting life story…Was it online? Best of luck for Wellesley though!

Waitlisted…Got a possible letter for EE

rejected: Int’l requiring aid. :(

Guys I got in! I am an international asking for a lot of aid from the Netherlands!
I am in total shock!

I shall post my stats a little later!

Congratulations to all who got in!

Brava. Pozzol.

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: I am so happy!
Wellesley is one of my top choices and I adore Boston and Massachusetts and the school in general of course! Hope to see some of you in the Fall!

me toooo I got waitlisted…! Is Wellesley famous for giving out waitlist alot??

I applied to four colleges in the US. Just four. Now 12 or 15. Just four. My first choice was Wellesley, by far. I simply did not want to apply to only one school. Who does that?? It is the only school, I thought that could fully appreciate the maddening last 4 1/2 years that I have spent at (public) Liceo Galileo in Florence. Yet having said that, I am honored and humbled to be on their most prestigious waitlist. If I do indeed attend college in the US, it will be at Wellesley if I am so offered the possibilty. I could leave Florence with a little less trepidation for Boston. G’night everyone.

Not, now 12 or 15. But, Not 12 or 15. :)
