A place to share all our experiences/excitements/expectations about Wellesley while waiting for the good news :)

Do you know the specific date we will hear back from Wellesley? I am so nervous!

Just so everyone who visits this thread knows, there’s an older Wellsley Class of 2019 ED thread, too.
( Found here : <a href=“Wellesley EARLY D class of 2019 hopefuls - College Search & Selection - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/womens-colleges/1706618-wellesley-early-d-class-of-2019-hopefuls.html )

I suppose it wasn’t “official” because it was posted outside of the ‘Wellesley College’ category, so @lilygirl1997, thanks for starting a more visible thread. I hope it attracts more prospies! I’ll post the link to this thread in the old thread, and we’ll see how it goes~

As for the date, we are officially supposed to hear back on December 15th, 2014.
However, I’ve heard that some years Wellesley’s gotten the results by December 4th or 5th, so it’s really a matter of how many candidates applied and when everyone turned in their missing credentials (1st quarter grades, etc.).

Whether we hear back by mail or by MyWellesley Portal or by both, I am unsure. It seems to me that they could save money by just sending the results digitally, but the aesthetic of getting a mailed letter and opening it (suspense galore!) is a tradition. Maybe they send the acceptance results via portal and then mail the accepted students any legal work afterwards – that seems most efficient to me.

I’m not overly nervous about the results, but maybe that’s because I just can’t picture myself going anywhere else.

I know that I already asked this in the other thread, but I’ll ask it here, too, because, all meaningful conversations and friendships need to start somewhere, right?

What majors is everyone looking at? What dorms do you like best? What extra curriculars are you all interested in?

(For me, it’s Japanese Language / International Relations and Economics, Stone-D, and Kendo / WZLY 91.5 FM)

@ToraTori Oh my gosh, I was planning on doing Econ and International Relations too!! I haven’t even looked too deeply to dorms since right now, I’m just trying to not get my hopes up about getting in! I am interested in joining Amnesty International, equestrian club, a society if I get a bid (is their process similar to sororities?), and cultural clubs if I get accepted.

@lilygirl1997 IRE, Whoop Whoop! Haha, I know there’s an International Relation Council and an Economics Students Association, and there’s so many other clubs I’m interested in (Aiko, Ballroom Dance, Debate, Outings Club…). I hear that - depending on the workload - Wellesley students usually commit to 2 clubs/orgs/etc maximum, even though some commit to more… I guess we’ll all figure out what’s best for us if and when we get accepted, etc.

As for “bids,” I’ve heard of tea-ing, which is where you sign up with the society during your first year and then you (literally?) have tea with some members of the society; that’s when they decide whether you’re a good fit or not… I know that when I visited campus, the Shakers seemed really accepting and close, but from what I’ve heard, their house is technically not directly owned by Wellesley so their regulations are a bit different… As for the other societies, I’ve heard that the members have a reputation on campus for being the girls who would’ve joined a sorority if they’d gone somewhere else (it was a bit of a stigma, even, but maybe I’m readng too much into it… as a prospie and not a student, I’m not a good source of information, sorry!!). Apparently the person I heard that from didn’t like that the new members of the society had to wear a costume to class for a week, or some other silly society initiation pratice (rest assured, it’s nothing like hazing, just little things). Then again, I hear the girls in societies are all really close. It’s a mystery!

Reading this post over, I’m questionning why I always end up writing long and obnoxious posts… fellow prospies, please excuse me if I’m coming off as snobbish or pushy or chatterbox-y or authoritative; I’m just excited and I want to help answer questions and make friends… (>_<);

@lillygirl1997 I am guessing we find out online on a Friday (maybe December 12th?) because I know a few people from different grades who all heard on a Friday. However, as @ToraTori said, the date probably overall does depend on the number of applicants. I’m just hoping we find out soon!

I’m sure they’ll eventually post up an approximate date, so we can get our kleenex boxes and red bull ready

Hoping to be a neuroscience major! Not too sure about dorms like @lillygirl1997 ahaha! I’m super interested in joining their photography club, outing club (if there is one), and maybe a society! Definitely don’t want to limit myself though!

Ahhhh! So nerve wrecking! Where are you guys from? I’m from California!

@blimey911 I’m from Illinois! (not by Chicago though)

Haven’t done enough research about dorms and clubs so I still can’t decide… ahaha

@lillygirl1997 Ahhh! I heard it snowed up there! Hope you’re making your own snowman army :))

@blimey911 ugh, I know I’m not ready for winter yet.

I’m surprised that we’re hearing back on a Thursday rather than a Friday, but the earlier the better right? I AM SO NERVOUS THOUGH I PROBABLY CHECK MYWELLESLEY THREE TIMES A DAY

Hi everyone!

I’m applying ED as well from Connecticut I plan on majoring in Political Science, and I hope to join College Democrats, CPLA, and Chinatown Afterschool. I hope we all get positive results back on the 11th – it’s going to kill me to wait until 5 PM!

@lillygirl1997 I got this email from Wellesley that said “have you checked your my wellesley portal lately?” I just sat there staring at it like “yes, I check it multiple times a day …”

@lilmissyy I’m not planing on majoring in PoliSci but double major International Relations and Economics / Japanese Language and Culture … I think I want to go into foreign diplomacy, but I’m still really interested in American law and political philosophy so if you ever wanna have a deep chat, hit me up yo!

Hey guys! I’m deb and I’m from the Philadelphia Region. I want to major in History and WGS. I’ll probably join College Democrats and Feminists for Reproductive Justice at Wellesley (If I get accepted!).

I’ll be in a middle of a Debate meet when the results are posted, which means all the debate team members from the greater Philadelphia area get to witness me crying because of the admissions decision. wee!

@msbubbles I live in Taichung! If you don’t mind me ask, are you applying as an international student?

@ToraTori This is why I love Wellesley. There are just so many like-minded people to talk to! In high school, most people either don’t know or don’t care… lol haha. Hope we get to know each other next year! OMG SO NERVOUS.
