IB (place score in parentheses): N/A
Senior Year Course Load: AP Economics, AP Chemistry, Biotechnology, English Honors, Calc III at community college
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): Siemens Semifinalist?

Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parentheses): Independent science research, science olympiad club, illustration club (treasurer, founding member), trivia club (historian), cello, creative writing, volunteering
Job/Work Experience: N/A
Volunteer/Community Service: summer science camp junior counselor, animal shelter, nonprofit for the blind, President’s Award for Volunteer Service Silver Award
Summer Activities: Senior: Travel to Japan, Carleton SCSI; Junior: completed science project, recovered from illness; Sophomore: completed science project, studied for SAT (obviously didn’t tell people at college about SAT); Freshman: babysitting my brother b/c of family issues
Essays: I spent a fair amount of time on my CA essay. I think it was one of the better essays I wrote. My Wellesley supplement was about my research interests and how Wellesley has the right mix of resources yet has the small/empowering community that I feel suits me. I guess it was a kind of bland topic.
Teacher Recommendations: Not sure. Did not read them.
Counselor Rec: Seemed to be attentive to details
Additional Rec: None
Interview: Went pretty well. We were able to talk for about 1.5 hours without awkward pauses.

Other:
State (if domestic applicant): California
Country (if international applicant): N/A
School Type: competitive suburban public high school
Ethnicity: Asian (Japanese)
Income Bracket: middle class for where I live, which is about ~130k
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): N/A

Reflection:
Strengths: I really don’t think I have any strengths. Maybe my interview?
Weaknesses: GPA, SAT scores, GPA, AP scores, GPA, lack of major awards, GPA, uninteresting extracurriculars, GPA, senior course load, GPA, boring topics for essays, GPA. Yeah, so basically GPA was abominable.
Why you think you received a likely/possible/unlikely prediction: For all my weaknesses
Where else you have applied and/or have been accepted/rejected: Accepted to Baylor, Agnes Scott, Indiana University, University of Pittsburgh, DePauw University, UC Riverside, WPI, UM Twin Cities, CU Boulder; Wait-listed at University of Rochester; waiting on 13 other schools.

General comments/advice/hindsight: I’m disappointed with my result, but I also feel that it was expected. My GPA sucks. Since I’m unlikely for acceptance, I doubt any advice I could possibly give would help.

I felt somewhat surprised but extreme excited that I got the LIKELY~ the whole diagram will be showed later~ but is that sure Wellesley will admit those who get likely?

General comments/advice/hindsight: Wellesley seems to be one of the schools that takes the pledge of looking at applications holistically seriously. I’m thrilled to have received likely, and so honored! To those who didn’t receive what they thought they might have, the process is tricky and unpredictable. A lot of my decisions do not line up, but it will all work out!

[]Summer Activities: Center for Talented Youth (CTY), traveling, taking online independent study courses
[]Essays: CommonApp essay is the better essay in my opinion. I talked about my summer experience with CTY. I think my Why Wellesley essay could apply to other small colleges, too. I also didn’t mention why I want to go to a women’s college as opposed to co-ed (oops)
[]Teacher Recommendations: excellent. from my computer science teacher who loves me, and from my biology teacher who knows my personality well
[]Counselor Rec: assuming it’s alright. she knows me personally
[]Additional Rec: from a teacher at CTY. my parents thought it was a good recommendation

[]Weaknesses: I’m Asian?, generic supplement essay?
[]Why you think you received a likely/possible/unlikely prediction: I’m questioning if I really stand out as an applicant. I probably don’t fit Wellesley’s mold of an ideal student, and I should’ve explained why I want to attend a women’s college xD
[]Where else you have applied and/or have been accepted/rejected: Applied: Pomona, Williams, Swarthmore, Harvey Mudd, Olin College of Engineering, Smith, Princeton, Carleton, Case Western Reserve, WashU. I got an “early-write” acceptance letter from Smith!
[/ul]

General comments/advice/hindsight: I honestly thought I would get a “likely.” Ahh, but all hope is not lost. Congrats to future Wellesley ladies!

Pin3appl3, my daughter received a beautiful handwritten note in the mail yesterday. Very nice touch. The admin rep commented on her personal statement essay and hoped she would bring her passion to Wellesley and how shed be a wonderful addition to their community.

This note was the first we have heard from Wellesley…have you all received more formal “likely” letters? It sounded like they want her if she wants them, but it kind of came out of left field.

I’m so sorry for posting so late- I just found this thread! Can you’ll please be brutally honest about my chance of acceptance

@chocochipmom
There will be no formal likely letter. Your D is in that is it. It is W’s tradition to send a “hand written” letter/note to students who are “likely” that is it. I hope your D will end up selecting W. Good Luck in the decision process.

@Tamtiger…thank you…omg I have goosebumps. Wellesley is her dream school. I just have a few concerns i developed from our visit, from a few things ive read on cc re Wellesley - and I also hope we can swing it financially. She has merit money offers from several other schools. We were naive and didnt realize Wellesley gives no merit and that we would be full pay. We shall see.

Thanks for the reply :)

@chocochipmom
Same here… full pay…:(, with merit scholarships at other colleges…

@tamtiger - What do you mean? I got a formal letter in the Wellesley portal

@venturalize
I should correct what I said before, there was no formal likely letter mailed, but I agree with you that there is a formal letter online.

I got a likely but I haven’t received anything by mail yet. :(

Wow, the 2018 on these threads is throwing me off a bit :slight_smile: excited to have a new class joining us!
Current Wellesley student here, if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask!
Good luck to all of you guys, and congratulations on the positive early evaluation/early decision decisions so far!

I also did not get anything in the mail, however I did receive a “likely.” I am absolutely dying to get my response and hopefully a financial aid package! For those of you worried about Wellesley not giving out merit scholarships, did you apply for need based financial aid? If you did, they give out very generous need-based scholarships

Hi guys, I applied EE as well and received a likely ( but i did not get mailed anything haha). I was just wondering if anyone knew when formal decisions will be released?

^And when will the Spring Open Campus invites come?

According to college confidential, official notification appears to be on March 27
