OFFICIAL Wellesley Early Evaluation Waiting Thread! (Class of 2016!)

Today was the last day for us EE applicants to submit everything. So how did everything go? Are you feeling positive? Do you think you'll get unlikely, possibly, or likely?

I know a lot of people don't like it when they get a possibly, but I'm really hoping I get one. Mainly it's because I'm completely terrified I'll get an unlikely due to my monstrous GPA. With my GPA and test scores, it's quite unrealistic to expect a likely. So...my fingers are crossed for a possibly!

Already I can't wait until the end of February so I can get my preliminary decision! I wish I knew a definite date so I could mark my new calendar, lol.

Hi! :slight_smile: I submitted everything a few weeks ago because I applied through QuestBridge, so I’ve mostly gotten over the freak out stage. I’m so glad we get to hear early. I’m feeling pretty positive. I don’t think I’ll get an unlikely, but who knows whether they’ll like me enough to admit me. I really wish we had a solid date too! Is Wellesley your first choice?

I don’t know what I’ll get. I know my chances of getting a likely are slimmer compared to the other choices since Wellesley is a bit out of my league. That’s alright, though, since Wellesley is actually not one of my top choices.

I submitted a few days ago (thank God because my internet crashed last night because of the wind storm!). I’m feeling pretty confident! I think I’m a strong applicant and I worked really really hard on my essays. It’s nice that we get to hear back so early! I will definitely be checking my mailbox religiously!

Yep, Wellesley is one of my top choices! Wellesley and Smith are currently tied for first choice…I really hope I get accepted at both so I can choose :)

Does anyone know what day we’ll hear back? I expected Wellesley to email me a definite date after I submitted my app, but so far nothing.

I looked back at the dates of the previous years and predicted notifications will come February 22nd.

@UFOninja
I just contacted Admission and they said that we will be receiving an email within the next few weeks with our Wellesley portal login info.

I think my interview, personal statement, and EC essay were good, but I’m freaking about my “Why Wellesley” essay because it went from around 1500 words to just 200-something words. I know it’s good to be succinct, but maybe it got to the point of being too succinct:o

Well, good luck to everyone and Happy New Year:D The waiting game has begun.

I have my interview in a few days. I sent in the rest of my application a few weeks ago though.

I’m so anxious to find out!!! The next couple of months I will be constantly checking my email, just in case they send the results early. Right now, I’m really regretting my decision not to apply ED.

Hey! I submitted my app probably around a month ago for Early Evaluation and I haven’t received an email confirming/giving me a password to an app portal. Has anyone already received that?
And I am so nervous for the decision! Are a lot of you guys also interested in Barnard?

As a deferred ED Wellesley candidate, I wish you guys the best of luck! Wellesley is such an amazing school :)

@Wollstonecraft
I just got an email with my portal info about 30 minutes ago. Don’t worry, I’m sure they’re still sending out all the information :)

I looked into Barnard but decided not to apply. New York is way too crowded of a city for me. I like that Boston is close to Wellesley, but that Wellesley isn’t in the heart of Boston. I’d be really stressed living a such a big city, lol. My other top choice is Smith :smiley: I’m also interested in Bryn Mawr, Mount Holyoke, and Scripps. Anyone else applying to these?

Over here, UFOninja. I’m applying to Scripps and Smith as well. I didn’t bother with Barnard because of the same reasons. I didn’t apply to Mount Holyoke mainly because of its lack of a vibrant town. As for Bryn Mawr, didn’t have my major.

I applied to Scripps, Mt Holyoke and Bryn Mawr in addition to Wellesley. I was really interested in Barnard, but I know that the school is extremely pricey and the cost of living is high, so I didn’t submit an application.

Wellesley is my top choice, but I also really loved Bryn Mawr.

I already submitted my apps to Scripps, Smith, and Wellesley (among all women schools). Also applying to University of Washington, MIT, and Claremont McKenna.

I applied to Barnard, Smith, Wellesley ED, Scripps, Bryn Mawr and Mount Holyoke. LOVE womens colleges!
Anyone know how competitive Barnard is? Its my second choice if Wellesley doesnt work out but I haven’t heard much abt it…

So I just found out that those who are doing early evaluation need to submit FAFSA and CSS profile by 1/15.
Do we need to submit our 2010 Tax information, or 2011?
If it’s 2011 one, I don’t think my parents can get it done by 1/15. I was little bit surprised because other schools have February as the deadline.
Can someone clarify???

You use the 2010 tax information to estimate the 2011 information (I just used the same numbers). Then when the 2011 information becomes available you just update it.

Hey guys, joining this thread :slight_smile:
Does anyone know how much the “likely” “possibly” and “unlikely” counts? I feel like it’s all very arbitrary and subject to change…

From what I’ve heard, unless your grades change drastically or you do something stupid, “likely” means you’ll get accepted. “possibly” means you’re on the fence. “unlikely” means you will not get in.

@lifeisbeautiful
Actually the preliminary decision counts a lot. A “likely” is basically an acceptance. Unless you do something illegal your final decision isn’t going to change. A “possibly” is like a maybe. An “unlikely” is a flat-out rejection.
