I chose it for its reputable English department and the culture of the student body. And I felt really comfortable when I first toured the campus. :-)

It's probably too early to bring this up, but are decisions mailed out on December 15 or are they sent out earlier with the assumption that they arrive around that date? I'm going to be going nuts that whole week...

I chose Wes for its Film Studies Depart. I haven't visited the campus or anything but hearing from graduates of my high school who attend Wes, they seem genuinely satisfied and happy:)

I chose Wes for its down-to-earth, sarcastic, intellectual students, amazing-looking classes, good philosophy department, political activism, Jewish population, and social scene not dominated by drugs and alcohol. (Wow, that's a lot to like!)

Just decided today (because I'm a ridiculously indecisive person, not because I don't love Wes) and I'm feeling good about it :)

To anyone who is looking for a solution to curb the anxiety and anticipation for the arrival of December 15th, I suggest growing a beard (if possible) because you'll be scratching it so much that you will be occupied with thinking of various ways to satisfy the "is there a carpet on my face" feeling and consumed with jealousy towards household pets who actually get people to scratch them (but then when you ask people just look at you like your nutz, not like your face really itches and you just want some charitable relief). Its working for me!!!!

I'm trying to keep myself busy. I find that I get more anxious at night, when I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to shut my brain off and get to sleep. But, unfortunately, all the calculus homework in the world can't keep my mind off of December 15. :-(

Couldn't have said it better myself, GG. I could've written that post, seriously.

And I'd grow a beard if I were of the appropriate gender. :)

I submitted my application via commonapp on Nov 14th, but just got a confirmation/receipt today via email. It's still on time, right? (WesCheck hasn't been updated yet either).

yes stuble counts, the main point is that it itches soooooooo much than you are too buisy worrying about not fufilling the very appealing temptation to scratch your face off that you don't even remember anything about college...

o yea and it sooooo help your chances, didn't you see that box on the common app "if you have a beard check here to recieve automatic acception"

I also find myself listening to Nigerian Juju music, its rather soothing and it certainly works just as well as the beard method because its such groovin music...

"o yea and it sooooo help your chances, didn't you see that box on the common app "if you have a beard check here to recieve automatic acception"

Hot damn! I was too busy marking my National Merit Semi-Finalist status to remember to check that box.

As for relaxing music . . . well, I have a real thing for Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians." Soothing and hypnotic at the same time? Count me in.

I can't believe I'm writing on a college message board!! But like all of you I can't stop thinking about my ED application. Wes has been the school of my dreams from the very beginning of this miserable college process. I'm seriously counting down the days til Dec. 15th. I heard they actually send the decision via snail mail, not email. Something tells me I won't be attending my last period class that day...

Did anyone send along any sort of supplement along with their application? Or focus in really intensely on one thing? I basically made the majority of my app about theater, and I just hope they don't think I'm totally one-dimensional.

For the common app 150 or less essay I focused on all the styles of guitar I play and how they have given me various opportunities and perspectives. I kinda continued this theme of "valueing all perspectives" in my long one writing about how a trip to Siena, Italy showed me the importance of diversity. I'm starting to die to, the beard distraction plan is coming to an end soon since our Senior Beard growing competition ends in a week so I'm starting to get super anxious too, not so much about my application but about my standarized test scores because I'm HORRIBLE at taking them. But hopefully we all get in and have a sweet time being froshs and hitting up all the parties at eclectic, seeing a rediculous amount of movies, and doing everything else a student at Wes does...
